I know in ACNL, if you had 10 villagers, you couldn’t move anybody in until a villager officially left your town. I heard a rumor that in this game, if you have a villager in boxes it will count as an empty plot and you can go to someone’s town and convince a villager to move in. If this is true it’d make villagers trading SO much easier, however it seems too good to be true. Can anyone confirm this?

I am not entirely sure, but I don’t think so. I say this because I have a random villager moving in tomorrow (onto a pre-purchased piece of land) and the game won’t let me invite anyone else until the rando villager is completely moved in, even though I have space available. It’s frustrating
