Can villagers on islands still move in after 10? (read my description for context)

So, I’m asking if I go on an island venture and see a villager I want can I still invite them to move in and can they?

I recently used my amiibo card to get muffy when I had max villagers and she asked who I wanted her to “talk to” to replace/make them move out so she could move in.
I’ve only had this happen once so far all other times I’ve freed up a slot but someone had moved into the new plot and I didn’t know until muffy said there was no free space THEN offered for her to talk to someone for them to move out so she could move in.

I just want to be sure if anyone else know this would work on an island venture or if this was a special instance since I’ve been spending literally all my nook miles to try and find Audie to move her in.

Oh that's really cool! So you actually got to pick the villager that moved out then with Muffy?
As for your question, I really don't know as I only have the starter villagers so far and have invited the next 3 to come.

Yes I did! After completing three requests for her (one each day, Had to scan her card three times) on the third day after you complete a request you can ask them to move in and they’ll say yes (instead of I have to think about it which they do on day one and two)
But as I said someone had claimed that plot and I didn’t know so when she said it was full she asked who do you want me to talk to to convince them to move? and I got to pick from a list of villagers.
I’m not sure if It’s a luck of the draw things where one could say no but I got lucky I guess because the one I did pick wanted to move anyway according to muffy
