Can you reset for island layout if you are a moving resident from another island?

If I move my non-island representative resident to a new island on another switch, will I be able to reset for a new island layout? Has anyone tried doing this yet? From videos I've watched it seems like the resident data is finished moving from the source switch before an island is selected?
