Can you still get villagers from other people?

Anyone know if you can still get villagers that are moving out from other people? Like in new leaf when you could talk to them while they're in boxes and ask them to move to your town. I want Julian really bad because he's my favorite villager and I just love having him around but it's gonna take forever looking in the campsite and nook ticket islands for him so I'm hoping I might be able to just get him from someone else lol, also the villager selling market was great back in the day and I wouldn't mind participating in it again lol

I'd imagine this would still be a thing, seeing that Nintendo has often encouraged "playing together" with their games. Once people get things up and running, I'm sure we'll start seeing more posts about villagers moving out. I'll keep you in mind if I ever come across Julian! ^-^
