Can't find Brewster

I am making this thread to see if anyone can help me as I haven't found answers anywhere on the internet. I have just gone on my first boat trip with the captain and visited the island. I got a gyroid piece and brought it home. Looking for info about it apparently I should have found Brewster at the island...because Blathers should have asked me to go on a mission for him and to give him a gyroid, but none of that has happened. There was no one there and Blathers has never mentioned him. Did I do something wrong? Should I have waited for Blathers to tell me about Brewster before going to the island?

EDIT: Someone has told me it might be because I haven't donated an art piece to the museum...ugh...I really don't want to play Redd's game so I never bought him anything...I guess I will have to

You have to donate at least one each of fossils,sea creatures,bugs,art and fish to the museum and have at least a three star rating for your island.And the art section of the museum has to be unlocked.Once all of this gets done,the next time you go to the museum Blathers will have the thought bubble and he'll ask you to find Brewster when you talk to him.

I am on my fourth island and I had the same issue! Good luck, apeisland! (Keep in mind that 2-5 dollar amiibo cards of all villagers are on eBay so you can get the guys you want.)

This seems like much too long for Brewster to still not show up. Something must be wrong. Do you perhaps have multiple player characters? Perhaps only the island representative is able to get to see Brewster? Or perhaps you can try creating a new character and seeing if it works for them, in case something is wrong with whatever other characters you've tried.

And just making sure, you're playing with your gate closed and everything? And you've updated the game to its most recent version? Have you progressed everything else possible in the game just in case something else is holding you back?

You're checking the Kapp'n tour islands right and not the NMT mystery islands? Did you pick up the quest from Blathers to look for Brewster before you did?

To get Blather's to give you the Brewster quest, the requirements are:
1. Have a 3-star island. K.K. Slider must have performed.
2. Donated at least 1 of every item. That's 1 Fish, 1 Deep Sea Critter, 1 Bug, 1 Fossil, 1 Artwork.
Yes, Deep Sea Critters and Fish are not the same thing.

Once you have completed that, the next day Blathers will be thinking. Speak to him and he'll ask you to locate his long lost friend. After which, speak to Kapp'n who will immediately take you to a tour island with Brewster.

Oh my god... thank you so much to both of you. That's it, I had no idea deep sea critters weren't counted on fish.... I feel so dumb, I hadn't read it anywhere. I'll try that, thanks a lot !
