Shop Catalog island - I need your help!

Hello!

So, I've come for some help. I've been making a catalog island for MONTHS now, since I rarely have time to work on it. I'm finally getting to the point where it is almost ready to open.

As some of you know my villager shop runs on an "as ordered" basis. HOWEVER, I can't run this shop that way as well, I just don't have the time.

My catalog island (which is also my cycling island) will be open during set days and times during the week.

How would YOU, my future customers, want to pay? (Keeping in mind that this will be tbt only).

I have in mind:
Paying by sets
Paying per item
PWYW
Whole island price
Whole category prices

Let me know! I will leave this thread open for two weeks, at which point, it will close and I will revamp and re-open my long-buried original shop thread (which I locked a long time ago and was based on me only having one island).

Hey FF, here's my input for what it's worth

Sets-Hasn't been done before from what I've seen, you could kinda set your own price here since you'd have no competition.
Per Item-NefariousKing, Firesquids and Jhine already run this kinda deal, so you'd have a lot of competition.
PWYW-This is sometimes surprising...you'll get 'no tippers' of course, but I've also seen very generous tippers...I used to be one
Whole Island-The only current competition you'd have here is that one island that occasionally shows up where you can go catalog everything for free...I think LoserMom runs it, but it rarely gets bumped anymore.
Whole Category-Too much work for you, unless you run a rotation. ie Week 1 all socks, Week 2 all KK Music etc. I haven't seen one of these types of threads in ages, so you'd have no competition, but it's also a ton of work. I wouldn't wanna run this one lol

Thanks for your input, my fellow Fox! It is always appreciated. I agree with everything you mentioned, and actually most of what you mentioned is what brought me to this problem to begin with haha. My intent is to just have everything (hopefully) organized all over my island, so I'll be putting a lot of trust in people, as I'm not going to go follow everyone.

I think I can safely rule out paying per item. It'd probably be too much of a hassle...plus, the top-notch competition

I used to run a mini catalog island on TBT that had 20 different sets of items (individual set prices) or a full island price. For a HUGE island with all sets, I would 100% recommend doing a whole island price. It will be way easier for you, and will make it so you don't have to keep track of everyone if you happen to get multiple people on it at once. Keep in mind that doing a full catalog island will probably take about an hour for someone to finish it (and that's if they're quick), and having random people coming in and out for 1 or 2 sets, could potentially cause annoyances.

Good point, I didn't think about the time it takes for cataloging an entire island.

I agree with the above about pricing the whole island and avoiding offering small orders! In fact, I’ve been meaning to visit a catalog island for a while so your island might be the perfect thing.
I’ve only seen one other thread here that sold cataloging trips, and they sold the entire island for lIke 200-300tbt. Which, personally is a lot of tbt to earn. So it might be appreciated and more accessible if you can offer different prices for cataloging general categories - like Furniture and Clothing could be priced separately but still is a broad enough category so that people will spend substantial time on your island.

Yes, that was another concern of mine, was that while I think 200-300tbt is certainly reasonable considering the number of items you get to catalog, it is a lot to earn. Especially for each influx of newer players.
