I thought that's what it was, but it's not responding. The down action works on other functions, like scrolling through the store list. I wonder if I need to replace the Joy Cons?

No no, not the downward direction of the stick. You have to push the stick in like a button.

That worked! I had no idea those knobs would do that. I had time to experiment with one design tonight. More to come. Thank you both.
