So I did a meme on dA that shows how an oc has changed over time and I thought "I wonder if any other tbt artists have pictures of their ocs changing over time!"

Interesting thread! I love seeing the improvements

I have an OC that I created loooong time ago. She indeed has changed over time as well.

She used to be a character for a fantasy adventure story. Then in 2008 I completely changed the story to be a gothic drama mystery thing.

2013 was the first time I started trying realism, and that portrait there is really awful. Fortunately, I have a better understanding of portraits now. I'm hoping I can find some time to repaint her properly sometimes soon.

Her name used to be Reyna, now it's Maddalena.

Omg yesssss. I wish I had a picture of the absolute first version of Skweekerz but she did not look anything like she does now. She had short black hair, cat ears, blue eyes and wore a blue shirt.

Nathan was essentially "me" as I saw myself in like 3rd grade? Kept that design for years and years. Amber was actually based off of an irl friend who drew herself into one of my illustrations which is why I had her hair like that. Being characters from my stories/novel I didn't really care about appearances/designs as far as clothing goes. It's not like you'd see them anyway y'know? Then I joined this site and started having people draw them, soon realizing that they were so plain and boring. I've only recently changed designs and stuff, trying to keep true to the "style" of the novel. Some characters don't even have new designs yet, but I'm working on that.

For whatever reason, I always gave the characters a shirt in their favorite color with their first initial on it. It was how I showed who was who as a kid, then I kept it simply because I couldn't draw and was lazy. Only one of my characters will keep this design, simply because it fits him and I want to hold onto it a lil bit. <3
