Now I know what you're thinking. "Didn't skar literally have an island blog already?"
And yeah you're right. But I realized I was too busy to keep up with my old format and I wasn't enjoying anymore.
So here's my new island blog, I'll be keeping it chill and open to comments. c:
This will be more of a commentary/build blog than a story-driven one.
I love sharing my island pictures and progress and I hope to inspire others!
And just remember, "You are here, and it is beautiful, and escaping isn't always bad."
(What the hell the title font I'm using won't allow me to use numbers. Anyway.)
Happy first log! I should probably establish my character and the island she's on. I named my character Momo because it is Japanese for 'peach' and I love peaches even though I was not blessed with it as my native fruit. Very cute name!
I named my island Tanpopo as it's the Japanese for 'dandelion', a plant that grows in the face of adversity. Remember in ACNL where the weeds became dandelions that you could pick up and blow into the wind? Miss those days. I wish we had that in ACNH.
The main inspiration for my island is a place of sanctuary, where the lost and lonely gather to rest and reflect on their lives. Everyone knows they have to move on one way or another and return to their old lives, but maybe, for just a smidge of time, they're allowed to find themselves in a sea so overwhelming. I really wanted it to be a chill island where the villagers can come and go as they please I have no set 'dreamies', just villagers I see while island hopping and I think, "Oh, I can vibe with them." It's been really fun cycling through some villagers, and I can't really be mad at the random villagers now and then. It's all part of the fun. I think the only villagers I had to adopt from others was Chief and Raddle; I really liked Chief but have never encountered him in my past games so I thought to get him. Raddle is there for the story; he is the town doctor. (What are his reasons for moving in? Who knows. Maybe he has a secret past...)
Living proof that I only customized my passport today. On my passport it says I registered last May 17, 2022. It took me 8 months to even touch my passport I should really change my title to Nook Inc.'s Clown.
(Thanks for the 300 nook miles Tom Nook please don't disown me for being an irresponsible island rep)
After changing my passport I saw Rolf and Chief talking so I went over to listen in on their convo. I love the crankies, I feel their backs crack every waking second.
Rolf was remembering this one carnival game where you throw things, and the choices were... underwhelming? I feel there are lots more carnival games where you throw things and Rolf isn't helping with describing it further. I didn't know what a beanbag toss was (sorry to the beanbag toss fanatics out there) so I went for ring toss.
Chief looks so done with this convo. Or with Rolf in general. I mean, before this convo, Chief was busy cleaning the resident services because SOMEONE who was forced to be volunteered as island rep (hint: me) can't be assed to even clear their own house. Or even log in daily. (I'm sorry Tom Nook do not disown me).
Bro Rolf's a damn cheater Redd better watch out during the festivals because we have a cheater on the loose. Wonder if reporting to Isabelle will do anything, she better scrub this man's mouth soapy clean because she will definitely not tolerate any crimes on this island.
Well, that's all I got for today. I had fun with this log even though it is going in literally no direction at all. I really want this to be a chill island journal! Tomorrow I think I'll be sharing pictures of the builds I've been working on. Prepare for some time travelling, hold on to your seatbelts!
Oh I have one more thing to share. I popped a balloon today and this is what I got.
I truly am a clown. [ba-dum-tss plays in the distance]
To be frank, I haven't been able to keep up with journaling T T life's been too busy and I like spacing out my gameplays because I don't want to be burnt out. Regardless, I'll try to post every now and then; I don't wanna post non-quality logs just for the sake of posting y'know? Goodbye book collectible.........
This journal I want to showcase my airport entrance and resident service front! I'm surprised I got to conceptualize it fast and I'm really happy how it turned out. What started as a barren land is now a barren land but aesthetic . Had to time skip forward because the snow won't do my overgrown island theme a favor. The grass right after winter feels like the perfect shade of yellow-green!
(Say hello to KK Slider and some of my villagers!)
Aaaand... tada! This is my airport entrance! Really wanted to go for an abandoned town look. I looked at tons of pinterest pictures and island tour videos to get these vibes right. It feels hauntingly beautiful at night.
In daytime it's so much better though.
Here is a picture of the front of the RS at daytime! I really like the old road and the overgrown plants.
More pictures! These get the full size treatment because I love how they look. This is the pathway from the RS to the museum just beside it! Thank god too for the angled camera; my quality of life has increased tenfold because of how my decoration looks when angled.
Well, that's all I have for today! There's an area beyond this currently under construction; hopefully it'll be done soon?? And I might cover the exterior of my house too. Very excited to decorate again, maybe sometime next week! Until then, thanks for tuning in my chill journey <3
Major dumpfest! I had a LOT going on today, sheesh where is the inspiration coming from?! I woke up today feeling energized to play ACNH so I did just that.
Before anything else, I just want to say that K.K. came by today! A certain dog's got a crush on him it seems...
Also the perfect time to show the front of my RS at night! I much prefer its look during the day but the nighttime vibes has its charms.
Cephalobot got stuck behind the fence as I was constructing the area. I was so spooked at first to see yellow glowing eyes but I realized he was wandering like the three squares of space because I accidentally trapped him, whoops.
He has been freed! And he doesn't look all that pleased. Well it's his fault in the first place for wandering in an area I'm literally in the midst of working on >: ( Can he not see my fancy construction hat?
I got shooting stars that night too! It's nice to stop by once in a while to wish upon a shooting star. I wish for continuous inspiration and motivation
Here's the next area I'm working on! I'm trying to go for some sort of old farm vibes. Honestly the more I decorate the area, the more I feel I'm headed towards the (inevitable?) cottage core theme...
So I fell asleep while decorating and awoke to the next day....... whoops my bad. Anyway, it's an excuse to take pretty pictures of my museum area in daylight! I should probably make the fossils more visible here.
And that's it for my third log! The picture above gets full-sized privileges because I think it's pretty. Also a sneak peek for a future log entry — let's see if I regret the bridge I just built!
(Lloid: we have 0 bells in donation so far, which is pretty neat, isn't it?
me, suffering in broke: haha yes it is)
Day four of logging! By my calculations I should be able to get to 10 entries if I post every day. Challenge accepted I guess...?
Today's not going to be so much, I want to save a lot of the builds I did for tomorrow's entry Especially since I'm still working on them!
First, I want to share the little area of crops I made! I did put a little sneak peek last entry and the area looks more beautiful in the daylight. I SWEAR I'm not intentionally trying to do a cottagecore theme, but my heart tells me to build it this way so how can I deny myself the inevitable cottagecore vibes y'know And forgive me this time! It looks so pretty anyway!!
I was trying to empty my pockets since I am an item hoarder and I realized I had a little brown twangoid! I placed the lil guy by the RS and he looks really happy twanging along to the melodies of the town. Bea doesn't look too pleased though : ( I hope she accepts the little gyroid one day. Look at him he is so cute!! My son!
Oooooo what's this? Another sneak peak?? I was so undecided what to do at the back of my house so I thought I should build some sort of little cliff by the riverside... I'll let you guys know how it worked out in the next log! Keep your eyes peeled
Lastly, this isn't a screenshot from today but I was trying to look for old screencaps of the area outside my house and this is all I got! See how there is a hoard of flowers in the front and trash and pipe on the side, lol. I really like comparing before-and-after shots and I plan on redecorating and finishing the area around my house soon (tm). Very excited to showcase it to y'all!
And that's it for log four! Here is my full-sized-privilege picture of the day. Sneak peek of The Path (tm) at the bottom as I work around the area of the house.
Good night!
Can you believe I'm at my fifth entry now? I know I can't. I didn't think I'd be able to commit to this but here we are. Honestly I'm having more fun than I thought I would! Today's entry will be all about before-and-afters.
Let's start with my house! I posted a sneak peak last time with the look of my house when I first started playing the game, and my challenge was to try and not move my house and stick to wherever I initially placed it. I think I did really well decorating the area around it! I have completely sunken into the cottagecore vibes but it's whatever. I'm absolutely in love how cozy the place looks.
This was the sneak peak I was really excited about! Yesterday I was thinking what to put behind my house since there was an empty lot, and the first thing that came to mind was a cliff. So I made the cliff work! The angled picture is absolutely GORGEOUS. It's got the Legend of Zelda farm house vibes. My thought process was to first lay down the trees, then the path itself, then the plants like the flowers, weeds, and glowing moss. Honestly everything was pretty random, I didn't plan where to put what, I just had a general direction of where the path needed to lead to. I thought to place things where I felt they would go first before adjusting from there! It also really helps to get inspiration from pinterest and twitter, it's where I learned that The Path (tm) was meant to look chaotic because it makes things look more natural.
The view from the cliff isn't that great yet since I haven't edited the area beyond the cliff, lol. But at this angle I love how the blue sky is the background! It's such a peaceful area. Feels like an end credits to the game.
And there we go! Day 5 of the chill logs. Here is today's full-sized-privilege picture, it's a little lovely area connecting the street area to my house. I'll also share the full-sized pictures of some of the ones above, they're too beautiful to be small!
No sneak peeks this time around, I think I've shared a majority of my builds up to this point I think tomorrow will just be more pictures and life updates!
Thanks again for taking the time to read, I hope everyone has a great day and has fun building their islands!
More than halfway into 10 journal entries! Yay!
I'm uploading earlier than usual (though it is the next day for me already) because my duty shift's scheduled later T T
Shooting stars! Tonight I was blessed with them. They're always such a lovely sight, and I had clear skies so I made sure to take lots of starry pictures.
Flick is here too! Man's just as unphotogenic as me I swear. He was wandering the area looking for bugs to catch. Glad he was around, I could finally offload the 10 scorpions I had laying on my shoreline and stop scaring my villagers who passed by the area, lol.
Celeste was around too! She was walking around the shoreline in an area I had yet to finish, like she would not go into my already decorated areas T T I soon gave up trying to push her and just pictured her with my scorpions and my line of gyroids. Silly little bird, god love her though. (Little peep at Chief in the background too!)
Eventually though, after having the game open for a while, she decided to walk with me to the museum and gaze at the stars. She's probably off to see her brother.
I saw Chief near the waiting shed so I decided to chill with him for a moment. Just a human and a wolf, taking in the full moon and the beautiful night sky.
That's all for my sixth post! I absolutely adore the cliff area I made and it was even more beautiful tonight. I want to see an aurora borealis up there one day, maybe if I time travel to the winter season...
Thank you for reading, have a great day ahead, and I hope everyone's enjoying the blogging!
Today's log is more about current builds and will be a bit more chill! Sorry I just came from graveyard duty and my eyes are tired lol. I somehow squeezed in around 2 hours today to start building the other side of my RS, hehe.
I started playing late in the afternoon and I realized the little crops beside my house have fully grown already! I'm really proud of these little fellas. I don't want to harvest them yet; maybe only when I'll really need the crops (future cooking log maybe??).
Remember that bridge I talked about a few logs ago? I only got to take a picture now! The angled view does it so much justice. No regrets choosing the brick path and brick bridge.
Rhonda took some time today to talk to me about glee. For a hot moment I thought she was going to go off about the TV series. Regardless, I love the new emote! <3
Here's the highlight of my playtime today! I had an empty lot to the right of the RS and I kept thinking of what to do with it. Extra challenge for trying not to move any of the houses or buildings I had already initially placed. Gotta make it work somehow!
As I was building, Rhonda decided to sit by the riverside. I took a quick picture because she seemed to really love the peace.
I have nothing much to say about Boone. Slay with the shades, I guess.
Alright, back to updating the area beside the RS. I lay the general direction of the pathway and started to work around the area! It's mainly a random plopping of tiles until it becomes cohesive enough. I swear ACNH is all about throwing things at a wall until something sticks. Here's also an angled picture after playing a pedestrian lane and a brick pathway between the lane and the RS. I'm surprised it's looking great so far (I didn't think it would lol).
As I was finishing up for the day, Francine came by my house for... some reason. I awkwardly tried to hide all the rubbish in my house but alas, my image was already tainted in her eyes. Sorry, Francine.
And that's log seven! It feels a little more chill with the pictures than the rest of the logs; I didn't bother to put any filters because everything is still in progress. Thanks for sticking until now if you have, it means a lot!
Another chill entry! I fell asleep playing last night after coming back from duty T T Didn't do much today but there are some notable things I suppose!
First, I started re-editing the area near my house! I realized it was too cottage-core that it contrasts my vision for the island... it's definitely beautiful, but I want it to look more abandoned in appearance. I'm still not sure how to pull it off though, haha. I tried going for random tiles that make it feel like many tiles were removed in the process, but I don't know if I'm happy with it... I'll try putting more wheat fields and random things and see where it goes. I think I can do it!
Faith also came by in the campsite! I really wanted to invite her in but I really liked a lot of the villagers I had ;w; She was really adorable though! It was nice having her today.
I also stopped by my Happy Home Paradise homes and edited them a little! This is Sydney's office, inspired by The Office US layout. I'm really proud of this one. :] It feels like a sitcom is about to happen any time.
I'm also happy with this painter's home for Curt! It's inspired by this artwork in one of the games I play. I wanted to do a flower-y/mountain scenery with lots of different colors!
I dropped by the school I designed and I honestly forgot what it looked like, heh. It looks pretty nice though!
That's all from me today! Sorry this was a short log too. I hope to post more interesting ones soon!
Almost done with the ten logs! Afterwards I'll be spacing out my posts based mostly on my island builds.
Honestly, I find it crazy how I was able to decorate a fourth (or third?) of my island in a span of a few days. It was really fun thinking of creative ways to push the abandoned look of my island, and I'm really happy for the most part! I played late last night (the time isn't accurate sorry) but it's mostly just edits of the previous areas and building the area at the right side of the RS.
This area is really shaping up to be the way I like it! It's not done yet as I still have to decorate the space at the right of the picture, but I have a vision for it already and I'm excited to implement it.
I also continued editing the area outside my house, I ordered like 15 wheat fields and used majority of them in this area. The wheat fields are like..... my go-to fix for an abandoned look LOL. I kept on going, "This area looks off. Guess what? More wheat fields I guess!" I'll see what it looks like in the morning, but right now I think it looks...... fine? (I'm hoping it looks fine!)
Right side area of my house, I honestly have no big complaints, but I do need to fix the positioning of the trees because I feel it's a little too claustrophobic for my taste. Or maybe it's just because it's nighttime, idk.
That's it for my ninth entry! A little more chill in terms of log but I swear I spent like 2-3 hours trying to think of where to place what. It's fun though to see what I visualized become a reality! I really do love decorating.
The stars were very pretty that night too!
Home stretch! I didn't think I'd make this far but here we are. Thank you to everyone who has been following my journey, it means a lot to little old me! I will still be posting but more spaced out. Hoping for continued motivation (and time)!
This log will include two days and more pictures because I once again fell asleep while playing hehe. There's a rainy vs sunny part; it was a little sunny during the first day and more rainy during the second!
God, this was the area I was most fixated on for the duration of my logs. I tried making so many things work; it was initially cottage core, then I placed some random tiles, then added lots of wheat fields... and here we are with the final-ish look! Honestly I think what's throwing me off right now is the look of the house. I plan to upgrade my house soon so I can edit the exterior because right now it is just not doing it for me.
It's important to take breaks once in a while! I love this waiting shed a whole lot.
This is a new area I'm currently building! It's the first villager area I've decorated (it's Wendy's house), and I think it's coming out pretty okay. I'm loving the look of it so far, and I'm just waiting for some of the trees to go to see the final look!
Additional pictures during the rain! I built a stone bridge (you can see it in the left picture), it looks pretty good! I really like this curved road area heh. It's so spacious!
More random pictures I took! I revamped the little farm area and placed tall fences and storefronts instead of just the log fences. Looks better if I say so myself! And for the right picture, I saw Chief, Raddle, and Cephalobot all playing together at the RS, and I couldn't help but snap the moment. I really love all my villagers!
Alright, that's it from me! Wow, that was a LOT more pictures than usual but it's the last log in a while so why not, y'know.
Again, thank you so much to everyone who read through my logs, whether it's just one log or the entirety of it! I wish I could've written more but life's been busy. I started this log because I didn't want to pressure myself into putting out so much when I'm not having fun, I really wanted it to be a chill log where I can place my random builds and gameplays.
I hope everyone enjoyed doing their logs and playing ACNH! And I hope to continue finishing the island that I started!
Wishing everyone a great day
