Aquilla wins! My favourite little factoid about BEES is that they have been observed sleeping in flowers and holding their little hands/feet ❤❤

Day 1, Fact 1: Some types of bees like to sleep in flowers

Day 1, Fact 2: Sometimes two bees sleep in the same flower, holding each other's feet! Isn't that adorable?

Day 1, Fact 2: In the winter when the weather is mild, bees have ‘cleansing flights’ when they leave the hive in order to poop.

Hammer entry: when I was a sophomore in college, I saw a "huge" spider in my bathtub, so I took a sledgehammer and thought I could control the leverage enough to smoosh it. I could not, and I ended up smashing a hole in the tub and could not locate said spider afterwards.

that same year, I took a DVD binder to kill a spider on a window and it went through the window. I actually got a bad cut on my wrist and my friend stitched it up and replaced the window and I have a scar from it now. basically, I am not the one you want killing your spiders.

Bee fact guess 1: A honey bees wings stroke 11,400 times per minute!

Day 1, Hammer entry:
For the most part of my life, I was never able to find our hammer when I needed to hammer nails into the wall. I went about 20 years of my life hammering nails with anything but a hammer. I got really good at hammering nails with my alarm clock. Sometimes I also used empty mason jars, flower pots, or a pencil sharpener. Less effective were: plastic boxes, my bare hands (yes, 7 year old me thought that would surely work out), books, heavy paint brushes.

Nowadays we have an entire hammer collection in the basement - but I am unable to control it and miss the nail 90% of the time. Surprisingly, my hit rate when it comes to my fingers instead of the nail is very accurate though. I think I will be hammering nails with my alarm clock forever ❤

Day 1 hammer entry (my very dramatic sob story): When I was little me and my cousins would walk outside in the big field behind my backyard barefoot. (it was scorching utah heat too) We would take a hammer and look for any rocks we could find, hoping they were geodes. Then we would take all the big rocks and hammer them open... only to find that they were plain rocks.

I never got that geode

Queen bees, and larvae destined to become queen bees, are fed almost exclusively on royal jelly for their whole lives, which causes them to become larger and more mature than worker bees, with bigger mandibles!

I read it somewhere a long time ago - and to this day it’s my favourite bee fact! It sounds so cute it’s almost unreal makes these cuties even more precious!

i’m afraid i don’t have any hammer stories, so i’ll share a lil hammer fact instead if that’s okay!

fact: the hammer is the oldest tool that we currently have record of, and is believed to have originated over 3 million years ago. back then, it was mostly used to make hunting tools and fire starters, and is believed to have looked something like this;
