Clutter

Much has been discussed about clutter. Do diy tiles count as clutter? I just built a soccer field, that’s fairly large and I abruptly lost my 5th star. I used tiles I created for the field. Would that have an affect in clutter or do you think I’ve screwed up somewhere else? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Happy crossing!

If you have too many items dropped on the ground or if you have too many trees planted then Isabelle will call you out on it. I mean when you say "cluttered" it sounds like you maybe put furniture where villagers have a hard time navigating. I think I maybe saw this once, but its rare seeing something like that. Maybe try getting rid of some stuff that is a bit too much and check the rating again.

Custom designs placed on the ground should not count as clutter.

You might have items dropped somewhere. Take note that tree branches, stones, sea shells, star fragments, mushrooms, and message bottles dropped on the ground does not affect ratings though.

Or, you might have too many furniture placed together in a certain area. Try removing one or two items from that cluster.

Yes. When it comes to clutter, just remember the 4 S's.

Sticks, Stones, Shells, Stars. None of these count as clutter, and you may have as many dropped on the ground as you please. There are also a couple other exceptions, which I believe include acorns and mushrooms.
