So almost everything in the game can kill grass besides flowers.

From what I understand grass grows at a amazingly slow rate, takes like an entire month to fill in patches and that means zero walking on it.

How Much does planting flowers help the grass? does it keep the edges of areas you walk in green?
:X =grass,
 =flower, and ;) =dirt you walk on or path

so if you have something like this will the grass still die under the flowers and maybe even path the flowers, or does it help keep the edges of paths grassy and everything outside of them as well.

Sprinting =kills grass like 4 times as fast as running
does walking, aka moving slow enough for your arms to be swinging rather then sticking out, stop from killing the grass?

And walking is painfully slow.

if so I could use walking for looking for...
Fossils
planting trees
gathering Fruit
catching weird bugs
and anything else that happens in the grass.

for a person that likes to play like 5 hours or more at a time, the rate that grass loss is to grass growing is nuts to me. I invite people over and no one can completely stick to the paths (even though they are 2 squares wide) because we run into each other all the time. I am not gonna settle for brown ground!

Anyone know how much flowers help on the edges of paths or have a town thats a few months old that I can come see?!?!

If you use the path often, yes it can make under the flowers dirt but it'll be a slower rate than usual.
Also, flowers help it grow back.

Walking is slow but it'll rapidly slow down grass loss.

Nice diagram by the way ;)

i disagree, we've had paths lined with flowers and without and haven't had the grass die outside of where we walk. we've only had it die in spots where we've strayed, ie walking on them.

But if you use that path a lot and run on it a lot then the grass can die under the flowers, only very, very slowly.

I haven't seen this in my town. Where we lined the walkways with flowers, we now have lush green grass under the flowers. The areas where we have no flowers beside the pathways are sparse and mostly dirt.

its good to hear both sides of the matter and many peoples experiences, hence why I need to buy 100's of flowers either way asap lol
