It started this morning with me watching a video on Youtube. After I was done, I decided to search something up. That was when I noticed that it wasn't loading no matter how long I waited. I closed Firefox and tried to reopen it, but it wouldn't open so I went to Google Chrome and tried it. It did launch, but it wouldn't be able to connect despite having an internet connection. Even opening the Steam launcher didn't work.

At that point, I tried to restart my PC since I thought that might fix it. However, when I moused over the restart button and clicked, it didn't restart. I had to do it manually from the tower and when it started up, it was normal again for about 30-45 mins until everything started acting up.

I asked a few friends if they knew anything about this or ever had this kind of issue with no avail, so I was hoping someone here could help me out.

If you think its a virus, try resetting your computer to factory settings, or there is this thing where you make your computer be a certain time before the "virus" or problem happened, search on the internet if you want. Hope this helps <3

Wouldn't it erase most things if I were to do a factory reset? I was thinking of doing that as a last resort, but thanks. I'll look it up. :)

try making your anti-virus scan for viruses, trouble-shoot your internet connection, or restart your computer again

I've tried having my anti-virus scan for it, but it got an error message every time it tried to do so. From what I've seen, resetting it only make the issue go away temporarily, and the internet connection seems fine.

how much stuff will get deleted, or what will? if its games you can just re download them, and if you have important pics and documents save them to an sd card or flash drive

Just games, most of my files and documents are on google drive.

maybe you have a restore point for your system prior to when you started having these problems ? if you have windows that might be a solution

It's not a virus, pretty sure it's just your internet or the internet adapter drivers installed on your system.

lmao ive factory reset my laptop twice because of viruses bc im too scared they will take my info if i dont

idk how to use an internet

Ok, first off, dont take it to a computer store, they will charge you the price of a brand new computer just to "fix" it... based off the info you shared I suggest,
1. you re-install ALL your browsers and make sure to scan for leftovers, provided you use Iobit Uninstaller, if your just using the systems uninstaller you wont be able to do this so If you can, search your system for any files related to firefox, chrome, etc. keep in mind that if you do this you will lose your add-ons and browser settings.
2. the problem sounds as if its related to a wifi problem, turn off your wifi router and leave it for 10 minutes, then turn it back on. this resets the router. I also suggest you remove the wifi from your saved networks and connect to it all over again.
3. if you strongly feel you need to reset, if your using windows 10 - go to settings, search for format, below it should be reset, this will remove programs and settings on your computer, however it wont remove personal files, tho it is recommended that you back-up your data just in-case.

Thats all I can tell you as of now, also I suggest you install ad-block as it also blocks some virus containing adds.

1)I tried that and nothing seemed wrong with the browsers.
2)I don't think it's anything to do with the wifi as every other device in my house works just fine.
3)I could try that again.. though I'm using Windows 8.

Well if resetting isnt working you may have to just wipe it to factory settings, seems like its rather serious...

But since this is a gaming forum you should ask people on this site people know everything on there... they've helped me with internet problems before

I'll try asking on this forum, thanks.

Go to safe mode with networking, and then identify the problem from there.

How would I identify it, with my antivirus?
