Ok even at stores I am being told opposite things is there a part of the nx or switch or another handheld or new product arriving related to the nx or switch or a handheld in December...aka before March switch rollout. And if I have an old Wii not U I had all the games and didn't see back then getting a non back compatible device that I had at that time all the games for ai wanted so no U but fully loaded Wii before the U came and 2 Nintendo 3ds not NEW but if there is a huge difference I don't know it..Any info on what is true and false and what is coming or I should be looking out for as it is holiday time or suggestions even on games for even 3ds or a different console choice for holiday any responses to question or suggestions for holiday based on what is available and what I have either welcome. I appreciate anyone taking time to one clear this mess up for my Xmas list or to offer any recommends to am end my Xmas list of handheld nx device, which is Apparantly non existent if it is an all out nothing new to marc, anything that you'd recommend in my situation greatly welcome. Excuse the typos my iPad is laggingon voice to txt and I misplaced the stylus as well try.

The NX is a the codename for the Nintendo Switch, which is practically home console and handheld combined into one hardware, thanks to its detachable controllers called Joy-Cons. It's still officially confirmed to be released on March 2017, therefore missing this year's holiday season. More details about it will come on January 12th 2017 at an event called Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017, which will include the MSRP for Switch products and their release dates.

Being a cartridge-based hardware, the Switch won't be supporting every Wii U and Wii disc, since it lacks disc drive. It also won't be compatible with 3DS and DS game cards, since the Switch game card takes a different form factor.

If you're going to get only one Nintendo console within the next 12 months, I would recommend making this one a Nintendo Switch over Wii U and New 3DS models. Even if you don't buy the hardware during its first year of availability, your trusty 3DS hardware should be good enough to hold you over with its already humongous game library.

The only advantages that the New 3DS models have over the older ones are mostly about improved user-experience and adding a very few more games, such as Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and the SNES games. If you're perfectly fine with the 3DS model you're currently using, then there's no point in buying one of the new models.

Nintendo isn't actively supporting Wii U anymore, beside Breath of the Wild arriving on both this hardware and Switch. Although most the games there are of higher quality across the board, the similar ones can also be found on 3DS and eventually the Switch. Unless you need those Wii U games badly enough, it wouldn't be wise to invest on a Wii U, especially since you already own a Wii. FYI, Wii U is still priced about $300 in retailers.
