Crabs...am I missing something here?

So today I was checked my level two flowers and there were all these red and blue crabs on them, which I do NOT need...this takes away space for the yellow and white crabs that I DO need. Is there any way around this? I have tons of red and blue crabs but I am not unloading them on anyone that doesn't need them (ie; red and blue are grayed out on their share screen) I figure when the event is over I will get bells for them so why even unload them?
I assume that when the colors are grayed out that means they don't need them, and of course I can't tell on my own game if when someone shares with me mine are grayed out or not...but still, is this normal? I will never get the level two done if I keep getting inundated with crabs I don't need.
Suggestions, or if I am doing it wrong...help??

Just to further explain as I am not sure if I am completely clear...when I see something like this I only share the ones that say "want this" and isn't grayed out:

Unfortunately there's nothing you can really do to prevent people from sharing the crabs you don't need as far as I know :/ I hope the game prevents you from sharing creatures that people don't need in the future

You want to share as much as possible. Don't wait for the bells at the end, the friend powder you get from sharing is much more valuable.

It's considered bad form to share creatures that other players do not need. I usually give people one chance because they could have done it by accident/without looking but if they do it more than once I will delete them. Basically all you can do is keep deleting people that share what you don't want until you weed them all out and are left with only friends who pay attention.

Edit: Forgot to mention you can check who shared what and how much in the visitors tab!

I had this happen to me earlier. To be honest I think the guy who did it is very new (even newer than me), so he didn't know to only share the ones a I need. But I got a bunch of red and blue crabs from him, so there wasn't room for the ones i do need.

It doesn't help that these crabs seem harder to catch, so it feels like there is more of a time crunch to get them.

Yeah, now that I am done I don't care what is dumped on me but when you are trying to complete the challenge it stinks to get bugs you don't need taking up spots where there could be bugs you DO need.
My friend and I just started sending them back and forth to each other all day yesterday since I was over there and we both got it done and now we just keep some flowers always bloomed to send back and forth constantly for the friend powder and I am trying to plant all the excess I have with the rest of the garden although I can't get any more plant food out of it so not sure if it is worth planing more or just leave the whole garden bloomed.

What is the best way to go about that? Should I try and plant all the seeds or just keep it bloomed and just keep bouncing bugs back and forth until it is over?
