Curious about island planners

Hello,

I'm about to begin planning out my village starting with the 3D island planner online. I know that there is at least one other, and I was curious which one you guys have liked the best.

Also, as far as how these planners work, do you take and upload a picture of your island from your Switch, plan it out in the planner, and somehow transfer it back to your game on Switch? I maybe misunderstanding that. If that is not the way it works, what is the point of using an island planner? Why not just do everything directly in the game? I would love to know how all of this works. I've looked at several tutorials already, but they haven't cleared up some of the questions I have asked here.

Any information, tips, tutorials, and other advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

What you do is upload your map screen to the planner, and then edit it accordingly. You can't re-insert your screenshot back to your game...The point in using one is that it's easier to try stuff out and see what you think of different layout ideas, in a format that's easier, faster, and might take less finagling with items or plants than doing something on your island just to undo it and try something else. Think of it as sketching or rough-drafting, basically, rather than making the final product (your actual island).
