I’ve been thinking about changing the outer shell of my switch (joycons too) ans was wondering if anyone else has done this?? Or does this go against Nintendo’s rules

I'm pretty sure that if you change the outer shell that goes against any warranty rules in place. If you don't have a warranty or it's expired, I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with it. It's not like Nintendo is going to check if you're still using the original shell.

Ahhh okay, yep mines been out of warnty or awhile but I was talking about the soft/hard ones not the actual physical plates

If it's just an outer shell like the one you linked, it's totally fine since & I echo @Hypno KK explanation. My partner changed the original shell to look like an OG clear console, but he takes great care of his devices and accepts the possible risks.

The outer shell you are considering to purchase can be removed; they snap on and off so you can change them out. It's not much different than the snap on plates for the Switch's docking station. 🙂

Go against Nintendo rules?! Definitely not at all. I have changed my shells on many different Nintendo consoles and no problem. It's not bad to do at all. It's actually good to do because it will protect more of the body of the console.

If you remove the actual shell of the unit so that you can paint it or replace it with a custom one...that will void your warranty.

If you're just adding a skin...yeah, that's fine.

Nothing to add on what others have said, but wow, those are adorable! And I'm making grabby-hands at them through the screen. 😁
