Happy April! It's time for some April Fools Day (or, more accurately How-well-do-you-know-your-friends Day) fun! I started my day off as usual: changing clothes, fossil-hunting, falling in a hole, and watering flowers, all while avoiding being pranked by any of my villagers. Also, it's finally Cherry Blossom season!

I was sorely reminded that the cherry blossoms do not, in fact, grow on fruit trees. Fruit trees are practically the majority of my town's foliage, so I have an astounding two cherry blossom trees. I'm going to have to chop some fruit trees down and replace them with regular saplings or money trees, just for the season.
After I sold all of my fossils and did my routine shopping, I thought I would go around and see what kind of jokes my villagers had for me today. Chief was home and told me quite adamantly that he felt like the town was not being run properly and therefore, having hit his limit, he was going to run for mayor in my place. Yeah, right, I told him. He said he was only kidding and that he really loves what I'm doing with the town. As I thought.
I found Mitzi hunting for bugs in the Zen park. She told me that April 1st is customer appreciation day at Nook's and if you make a purchase of 500 bells or more, he'll do the famous Nook dance for you! I was totally on board. First of all, it's impossible to NOT make a purchase of 500 bells or more. And I'd really love to see the little crook dance. Buuut she was joking, and felt rather accomplished for having "tricked" me so I was okay with that.
Felicity was at home, and as was also the case with Lolly, Becky, and Whitney, she had no prank to pull on me. Instead, she went on about how much she loved her outfit (again!). +5 for my present-picking skills!
Buck was walking around outside of Deirdre's, and he told me that there was going to be a huge track-and-field event in town. Better yet, it was going to be held in a giant inflatable stadium! I'm always down for a bouncy house. It would be incredibly entertaining to watch people trying to run a race in that. But I just couldn't give him the satisfaction of believing him. After all, doesn't he know that as the mayor, all upcoming special events have to be pre-approved by ME? So, no. Sorry, Buck. But we definitely have to schedule something like that in the future.
After that, I figured it was time to get the party started. I found Blanca roaming about the plaza and introduced myself. She (he?) said that the citizens of my town were all rather unversed in pranking and thought that they could all use an individual lesson. Then she vanished into one of my villagers' homes.
Now I wasn't sure what exactly I was looking for, but I started checking in on everyone that was home. I mostly expected there to be someone in one of my villagers' houses dressed like them, and that was basically what it turned out to be. I found a Deirdre doppelganger first, although she really didn't seem to understand what was going on.

Unfortunately, I had really bad luck with my villagers giving me hints prior to today. Hardly no one would tell me anything, and I got tired of trying to pry it out of them. As a result, I knew absolutely nothing about Deirdre, so I guessed that she was the faker. Oops. I hated to let her down, since I need to do all in my power to stay on her good side. (I want those PWPs!) But she didn't seem too offended, and urged me on to save everyone else's day.
Blanca showed up at Felicity's next, and all I knew about her was her birthday since it was just two days ago. I mediated until they played the birthday card, and I knew the one who said March 28th was bluffing. Felicity was very happy that I helped her out and gave me her picture as thanks! Yay! Now I don't have to work for it, and I can let her move out the next time she asks.
Chief was next on the chopping block, and having studied all of my friends' pictures that I have, I was ready for him. The first argument was what he aspired to be, the real Chief having said a poet. The impostor said a detective, which I actually thought I had heard from Chief before. Turns out the only reason I thought that was because I convinced Chief to buy a Detective Shirt at Re-Tail once. Anyway, I went another round just to make sure and the Chief that wanted to be a poet said that his favorite saying is "Don't wish it were easier; Wish you were better." That's my Chiefers. He was glad that I vindicated the real him and gave me like the fourth copy of his picture before I saw myself out.
After Chief, Blanca moved on to Becky. Having no interest in the purple chicken, I also knew nothing about her. I think they argued over dream jobs and their siblings and somehow I ended up guessing the correct impostor. Becky gave me her picture as thanks, and I only put it in my house for the extra points.
Whitney was the next victim, and sadly I haven't had enough time with her to learn anything about her life. So I guessed her incorrectly, and I was very disheartened to have let her down. I guess I'll have to work a little harder for her picture, which is just fine by me. If they're a really good friend, I want to deserve it.
After that, the wafflehanger ended up at Fang's. I recalled that he told me the other day that his signature catchphrase is "You mess with the wolf, you get the fangs." Can't hardly forget that one. The impostor said that his catchphrase was Chief's, so that was an instant strikeout. Fang gave me his picture, and I rejoiced.
Then, over at Lolly's, the shenanigans continued. The first clue they went on was their dream jobs, one saying chef and the other saying makeup artist. That pretty much cleared it up for me right there, but I went another round just to be extra sure. Next was the catchphrase, the real Lolly saying "Laughter is the best medicine." Lolly was glad that I know her so well, and gave me her picture as a reward. I'll probably save all of the doubles that I got and sell them a bit later.
Buck was next, and I was ready for Blanca to bring it on. No one can trick me with my very bestest friend. One Buck said he wanted to be a basketball player whereas the other said actor. I didn't actually know Buck wanted to be a basketball player, but that just made him 15 times cooler. Obviously, that was the right one. But since he'd never actually told me that before, I requested one more testimony from each one. It ended up being their birthdays, and the one who said April 4th was the winner. Buck was so glad that I knew him so well that he actually gave way to tears. <3

(Plus, a Foosball Table should really look nice here in his room!)
That left just Mitzi and Wart Jr., and since Wart Jr. was the only one of the two that was home I knew he had to be the one getting pranked. I only knew his birthday and catchphrase since that's all that's on his picture that I have. The first bit of information they threw out was their family history. One said that he was the middle child, whereas the other said he was the second of quadruplets. o.o Ironically, that ended up being him. I guessed correctly, since he went on to say that his birthday is August 21st. I am not entirely sure I would like to see three identical Wart Jr.'s...
And so Mitzi was last. The first thing they mentioned was their birthdays, so that was quick and easy. Her picture had said September 25th, so I handed the towel to the one that gave the incorrect date. Mitzi was happy, and with that I came out with 8/10 villager photos. For my first April Fool's Day, I was pleasantly entertained with the gimmicks and had a really fun time! I made sure to put Becky, Felicity, and Fang's pictures in my house right away, arranging them in a proper order according to the amount of respect I have for them. Needless to say, Becky's went in the west wing that I hardly ever go into. x)
In non-event news, I took my axe out and chopped down the bamboo stalks I had planted above the path over to Fang's. It looks pretty good with the few sweet-olive bushes I planted, though I think the hibiscus leaves would look a lot better. Since I only have two hibiscus bushes in the whole town, I think I'll swap them out. While I had my axe I chopped down a couple of other trees throughout town and planted a sapling in one hole, and some bells in the other. Hopefully I can grow a money tree! I've never tried it before.
I also got started on my big winter/summer clothes swapout. I moved all of my coats and sweaters to a museum room and laid them out according to outfit. Now I just need to go to T&T and order me as many short-sleeved shirts and dresses and I can in one go. Should take me a couple days, only ordering 10 a day, but I figure I'll style up several new outfits in the process.
After that, I dropped yet another loan payment in front of Lily's and went to purchase the final expansion for the back room. I moved a lot of the furniture I ordered into there and got a base layout for the Throne Room down. I also purchased a K.K. Marathon for the Caucus Race room, since it gives off a constant-running vibe. I also liked K.K. Waltz, so I may order a copy of that and interchange them whenever I feel like. I also had another letter from the HHA, stating that her score reached 100,000! Boy has it been increasing fast.
That's my take on the events of April Fool's Day. Can't wait to read some more shenanigans that any of you all may encounter.
