Since Christmas is over, we are in the final phase of 2016 - Dead Week, when the year is essentially dead. Other than New Year's Eve (which is always the last day of the year), Kwanzaa, and sometimes religious holidays such as Hanukkah (it is Hanukkah right now actually) and Ramadan, there are no holidays left. As some are exclusive to certain religions, Kwanzaa is not as popular as it used to be. The fact is, there are less than 7 days left in the year, and if there are no holidays to celebrate other than New Year's or any birthday in between, then the year is pretty much over, hence the name Dead Week.

It appears that another year has rolled by. A few days ago, I went over a review of 2016 and its highlights (such as Trump's election, Harambe, Brexit, Pokemon Go, and the Summer Olympics), but today, I'm gonna cover some interesting facts about 2016.

  1. The sum of the first 63 numbers is 2016. The last year to be the sum of all the consecutive numbers starting with 1 was 1953. The next is 2080. Coincidentially, 2016 is also divisible by 63, which is 32.
  2. It is the first year since 2000 when the only prime-numbered factors are single-digit. The next year to be that is 2025.
  3. 2016 is the first leap-year since 1988 to end on a Saturday, which makes the last week of the year a full calendar week.
  4. Election Day is at it's latest possible day (November 8th), and the only possible day on the second week of November.
  5. The Cubs won the World Series for the first time in 108 years. Coincidentially, they scored 8 runs at the end of the 10th inning.
  6. Despite all the bad things that happened this year, there was only one Friday the 13th this year. Oddly enough, there were three last year, and there's gonna be one in October (the month of Halloween) next year.
  7. 2016 is the third year since the 9/11 attacks when 9/11 lands on Grandparents Day. It was even the 15th anniversary. Last time it happened, it was on the 10th anniversary, and on the time before, it was close after Hurricane Katrina hit.
  8. 2016 is the fourth year since 2000 to have a Square Root Day. Amazingly enough, it was the third Square Root Day to be on a Monday this century.

That's all for today. It's hard to believe how much time has passed. Not only that, but there are three years left in this decade. But for centuries and millenniums, we're still pretty early.
