Disappearing Fishimg Rod?

My fishing rod happened to disappear over night. I searched everywhere, my dressers, pockets, and the outside. It was nowhere. I'm POSITIVE I didn't sell it, I double checked by restarting the game without saving! My brother had the same problem. He stormed in on me accusing me of stealing his rod, which I didn't. His also disappeared. How do we fix this?

I don't think stuff just disappears. Did a villager set up a plot for a house somewhere? Did you invite any visitors who may have taken it? Was it a golden rod or just a regular fishing rod?

I've actually had that happen to me once with my shovel. I made a thread about it, too, and no one seemed to know what may have happened.

I don't have an answer for you but this really freaks me out. What if you have some rare furniture stored? What if it's a DLC item?

silver tools can be found again (silver axe is really rare on the island - haven't seen one yet) but if I lost one of my golden tools I would cry!!! Please keep us posted!

Woahhhh, I thought this was just something that happened to me! =O I thought I might've sold it to Re-tail, but now seeing this I think maybe it's possible that I didn't...
