Of course you can't match Robin William's energy. It does remind me that Will Smith used to rap back in the day.

yup. This looks just like the beauty and the beast remake (which I couldn't stand) It's just the exact same thing as the animated original without the charm and heart.

The only live action disney remake I loved was Cinderella. It honored the source material while still being it's own distinct story-and a fantastic one too!

I'll give Will Smith credit for trying his best and I'll admit he's a lot more tolerable when he's not blue. But that said I have no interest in seeing this at all and I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist.

There was a Cinderella remake?

It doesn't seem too bad and Will Smith seems perfect for the role. Though, when he's blue - it's a little off. Iv'e no idea why but Hollywood CGI always looks bad, and not because it's not good technically, there's just no depth to it. I don't know why they do the CGI in the first place...

But yeah, I won't watch it. Why remake it at all? Create some new legends already...

I still think there is one true Genie, rest in Peace Robin Williams, that man MADE genie. His entire personality was basically genie, so I really have a hard time seeing anyone else as Genie.

I just realized it didn't get the the part that goes "He's got the monkeys, let's see the monkeys".

Jafar is actually one of my favorite villains. he is subtle until is is time to smack a b****.

it looks great, but i don't understand why they made a remake.. why make a new one?

It looks alright but i feel like it doesn't,, add anything to the source material? like there's no new vavavoom or anything as far as the trailer goes? so i wouldn't see a point in watching it personally and having to spend money on seeing it

To be honest, I'm not the biggest Disney fan out there and I kinda find it unnecessary
to give every single animated Disney movie a live-action movie adaptation. At least
that's what it feels like what Disney is doing, as there is also that live-action The Lion
King movie which looks so pale and emotionless compared to the original one. I also read
somewhere that Disney is about to make a Lilo and Stitch live-action movie in the future
where I'm just sitting here and thinking "please, stop...".

I mean, this one here looks... Okay, I guess, but not really my cup of tea. Gonna pass at
this one and all the other Disney live-action movies.

I don't like it that Disney is doing it either. But they're doing it for 2 reasons: the money, which you'd expect, but also copyright reasons. Disney is pretty obnoxious with all of their copyright battles. Making these live action movies kinda extends the copyright of the original animated films without needing to lobby Congress to extend copyright again.

Anyway, about Aladdin in particular, I think it looks OK. Will Smith is doing his best, but he's no Robin Williams. This is not just nostalgia speaking. Robin Williams really went into character and made it his own. Will Smith just doesn't get into it the same way. Watch that Prince Ali bit and you'll see what I mean.

I’m kind of unsure as to how much I’m going to like the movie (I liked the full length trailer but the Prince Ali clip was...yikes) but I’m pretty excited to go see it regardless!

Aladdin is my favorite Disney movie of all time, and the fact that I'm absolutely disgusted by this remake says a lot about how I feel about these live-action remakes in general.

It's just another cash grab. Nothing but sequels, sequels, sequels this year...

This movie looks like butthole, to be honest. But Aladdin was my favorite Disney movie and my husband's, so we're gonna see it. Also, Jafar is SO HOT in this movie. Like, excuse me, sir, you are supposed to be old and ugly, not fine as heck.

I saw the movie last weekend and I liked it. The only 3 things I didn't like was the way the "Freed" Genie...makes the other 2 Aladdin movies non cannon...it was a cool idea though. Jafar was not as sinister as the animated one. And Abu, Iago, and Carpet were pretty much just there...not real personality. Other that that it was a good movie. Just don't compare it to the Animated one and you'll like it. Will Smith also did a fabulous job.

Can I ask how they retcon at least the third Aladdin movie. I've kind of been hoping for a higher budget version of a few of their songs.
