Do animals actually participate in this game?

Do they actually catch bugs, and fish? I know they shake trees.. Do they shake trees with fruit on them and pick one or two or three up? As long as it wasn't a delicious tree, I would love for them to do that. The more I feel I'm not the only one who does anything while all the other animals walk around aimlessly doing nothing, the better.

What else do they do? I know they even go to shops!

I have seen them shake tree's, read the bulletin board, fish (but they don't catch anything as far as I know), they sit on bench's, and water flowers, plant flowers. They are much more active in this game.

I've never seen any item drop from a tree a villager shakes. I'm always quick to follow behind them to see if I can get an item to drop. I've also never seen them shake a fruit tree. When they're fishing you can't have the usual conversation with them so if you're delivering an item to a fishing villager you have to wait till they're finished before you can speak to them properly.

They also water plants and plant flowers of the same type in the village. Though the colour is random. It might mess up your garden if you're going for all of one colour flower. I've been picking up lots of yellow tulips from my white and red tulip garden. :/

I'm also curious about the quality of the conversations and if there are options that are consistently available (such as the option to request an errand or to just talk or something like that)

They shake trees but never seen anything fall out of them when they do
They fish but never catch fish
They walk around with bug nets but don't actually hunt down and catch bugs

They do water plants, pull weeds, add more plants tho.
They sit on benches/tree stumps, and fall asleep sometimes too

Also you see them visit the museum and club444 (but only one in one area including club444 at a time -_-) etc.

I've seen more than one in Club 444, but that was because my friend has had several villagers move out and some of the ex-residents were visiting.

Positive emotions they smile back at you negative emotions they look sad. Some of the emotions they will copy.

This is the star spin, I managed to time it to get Pate copying me and take the picture. It's so cute!

It seems to be most of the expressive ones they'll copy. The star spin and the wave are my favourite.

When you fish and you catch something they'll only clap if they were watching you. If they're just walking past they won't do anything.

Conversation wise it seems similar to the original AC, if you're doing one of them a favour you can skip it and ask them something else but they will probably bring up that ever so important fish they wanted at the end. They have a lot more dialogue to talk about and will mention if you're continually bugging them. I haven't played CF so I can't say if it's similar or not.

Okay, GOOD. CF had them repeat the same things. It was boring.
