Do non-native flowers spawn normal colors?

According to game8's hybrid guide, only flowers native to your island will spawn regular colored flowers in addition to hybrids. So does that mean if mums aren't native to my island, I can only get new white, red and yellow mums by buying/planting more of those seeds?

non-native flowers can spawn normal colours - i have pansies on my island that aren’t native and they’ve been spawning yellow pansies. i also have non-native windflowers that are spawning white ones

My native are pansies, and I've definitely had windflowers and tulips spawn regular colours. Though Windflowers and Tulips are in my Nook's Cranny.
