Do you know the capital of Australia?

i didnt know
i knew it wasnt sydney but uh . the only australian cities i can name are perth, sydney and melbourne......

Yes I do know the capital of Australia is Canberra (aka ACT - Australian Capital Territory). It would be odd if I didn't since I'm Australian!

Back when the capital was being chosen people couldn't decide between Sydney and Melbourne so a new city was proposed. A design competition was opened in 1911 to choose the layout and thus the most planned - and completely and utterly DULL - city in Australia was created. It is the most boring place to explore I've ever been too, and is infamous for having no redeemable features except the art galleries (which are fab, admittedly). The design worked on paper but in real life lacks character and personality that growing cities naturally gain over time. It's also full of politicians and public servants, and manages to have THE worst weather on the Mainland.. *shudders*

This link covers the interesting parts of how and why Canberra was created for anyone interested : http://www.migrationheritage.nsw.go...urley-griffins-design-for-australias-capital/

Yes, I had geography class in school.

You actually learned about where certain cities in the world were in Geography? Damn... All I ever seemed to learn about it in my 5 years of studying it at school were volcanoes, rivers, and population problems. :\

But it's Canberra! I'm pretty good at knowing what the capital city is of each country. :)

Being completely honest, I thought it was Sydney before looking at this thread.
