Does anyone love traveling and/or travel frequently? If so, what is your preferred method of travel?

I prefer the train because of the scenery and I’m literally obsessed with the relaxing rocking of the train when you’re trying to sleep, you’re reclined back and the train is still running on the tracks.

I’ve taken the Greyhound bus a few times (those of you in USA/Canada might know Greyhound). I actually don’t hate it despite it’s bad reputation. I haven’t had any bad experiences with Greyhound. I’ve actually had one experience with them I was quite surprised with. A few years ago, we made a quick stop at a gas station and I went in, but it was in the middle of the night and I wasn’t thinking, so I left my phone (which was a brand new iPhone at the time) on my seat. The guy sitting in the row across from me made sure nobody took it and gave it back to me when I came back from the store. There’s a lot of shady people on Greyhound, so you can’t be too careful.

I don't particularly like traveling, so most of my trips are close to home. That being the case, I prefer my car, since I like to be able to go when and where I want.

If that isn't an option, I guess plane. I'm not fond of buses and the only trains I've taken are the T in Boston (public transit). I would like to take a sleeper some time, just for the experience, but they're a bit expensive.

Probably airplane. I get motion sick so I'm not crazy about any form of transportation, but my medicine works the best on a plane and I'm able to relax and watch a movie, draw, play my 3DS or switch, etc. without feeling sick. Even if I take medicine in the car I'm not really able to do anything except look out the window. I also don't like bus stations or train stations since I've had a few weird experiences there lol

I'm not a fan of traveling at all. It causes me a great deal of anxiety, so I only travel when necessary. If I do have to travel, my preference is to take my own car because then I'm in control and it lessens my anxiety. I can choose when to leave, when and where to stop to eat or rest, and so on. If my own car is not an option due to distance or needing to cross the ocean, then I don't really know. I've never traveled by train or by boat (which is not in the poll), but I've had bad experiences with both buses and airplanes that led to panic attacks. So I would try to avoid those again if possible.

I prefer traveling by car because I’m afraid of flying. taking a train might be fun, but I’ve never had the chance to do that. None of the poll options fit me though because I can’t drive, so one of my parents would be driving.

Airplane for sure. I’ve been on many flights in my life, and even though I still get nervous during take off and any turbulence, I enjoy them more than being in a car or anything else.

I don’t have a lot of flight experience but I went on a plane two years ago and it was fine. Much better than driving.

I’d prefer a train 100% but they’re super expensive.

I wouldn't call myself a very frequent traveler but I have been lucky enough to try out the various transportation methods in this poll (aside from driving myself) so heres my two cents.

Travelling by train is definitely super fun for all of the reasons you've mentioned but I feel like it definitely starts to get a lot less fun the longer you go for 😅 I did a ~36 hour journey once (twice I guess for the trip there and back) and it was definitely getting a lot less fun at that point.

I have likewise never had a bad experience on the greyhound bus but I have seen some questionable things happen at the greyhound bus depot before or after a trip. I think that greyhound has shut down most of its operations in Canada now though.

Airplanes don't give me any trouble, I'm fortunate not to have a fear of flying. I love to look out the window and see everything looking all tiny down below. It's also a perk with flying that you have the in flight entertainment screen so you don't need to worry as much about packing your own entertainment.

The one thing I hate about travelling is the plane/bus/train bathrooms.

I've only taken cars, busses (though only for school and school trips, so I can't actually speak to the Greyhound or whatever experience), and airplanes, and I'd have to say I prefer the car when it's possible.

Airplanes will probably get you where you're going faster and they're supposed to be safer, but to be honest I don't really enjoy planes. I'll feel sort of nauseous on a plane unless I take a dramamine or something prior to boarding and the pressure change can sort of be painful to my ears. Also, while it's safer, I can't lie and say that being that high up in the air doesn't get my mind thinking about worst case scenario what-ifs. It's not a phobia and I'm not scared or freaking out or anything, but still. I'll ride a plane but I won't really like it.

I'm kind of interested in trying a train sometime if the opportunity should arise.

I prefer travelling my car as I find it the most comfortable and I like been able to stop and get out whenever needed, if I’m just travelling local I’d always use a car and whenever I travel larger distances within the country with family my dad nearly always drives so that we can have the convenience of the car.

Trains can be relaxing on some journeys, especially if it’s through a scenic area and if its a newer train on a good line so that it always runs smoothly. Out of the public transport options trains are my top choice, they feel like they have more space then a bus or an airplane and I feel more relaxed on them and not trapped. Mostly I use trains to reach London as it only takes about 45 minutes by train compared to usually over an hour by car and saves on the difficulty of finding somewhere to park or dealing with the congestion charge, the only downside to this though is that while I like trains I can’t stand the underground (metro) and I always end up either having to use it or taking a very long walk for miles around the city.

Airplanes are really just a means to an end for me, I’ve been on a lot of them when going on holidays and really disliked them when I was young as I had very bad travel sickness on them. I could just about manage most flights to Europe as they were short haul but trips over to North America in my childhood were really hard, I spent half a holiday in New York recovering in the hotel room due to the sickness. Luckily these days I don’t get travel sick anymore but I still find airplanes very uncomfortable and I really hate the night flights whenever I travel back from the US (not sure how anyone can sleep on those) but I love travelling abroad so I suffer them anyway.

I don’t travel by buses really, generally anywhere a bus could take me my car could take me more comfortably.

Honestly, I don't know if I have a favorite method. I like planes, but I'm a bit scared of being in them at the same time. I used to trust trains a lot, but now I'm not so sure. I don't drive. So I guess airplanes?

There aren't long haul passenger trains in most parts of the U.S., most just connect cities and suburbs. So by plane or by car usually.

I actually really love flying, I think mainly because it means I'm going somewhere fun, and getting there a lot quicker than I probably would otherwise. Honestly, I've never really understood why people are scared of it - takeoff, landing and turbulence are sort of fun to me, almost like a rollercoaster, and even though I've grown out of needing it somehow, I make sure to buy gum just in case I have problems with the pressure difference. Plus, even if the seats are a little cramped, I feel like it's better than in a car, since you have the option to get up and walk around, and there are more entertainment options. I do still have problems with my eyes drying out, and that I can't sleep, but maybe I'll figure those out eventually, too.

Train is way more affordable but takes years to arrive to your destination.

Airplane, sure it's much more expensive than travelling by car but it's faster. I've travelled to both Minnesota and Florida by car and it was like 12 hours to get there, it was a nightmare. But with a plane I can get to either one of those places in 2 hours.

I don't travel outside of my city at all, lol. If I have to travel, though, I'd definitely be driving my own vehicle. I prefer being in control of my mode of transportation when going somewhere. As for the other options in the poll, I have no desire to be on an airplane in my life at all, even if it's the fastest option of the 4. I haven't been on a bus since grade school and that's pretty much not going to change anytime soon, lol. I wouldn't mind traveling by train, except that doesn't really exist as an option in North America, which is unfortunate.

What is travel.

Before the pandemic I was flying at least once a year. I enjoy a good road trip, but when I travel I prefer to experience a place that is dramatically different from home.

I will always prefer driving my own vehicle when traveling. I wish I could fly but as I get older, I seem to get even more afraid of flying/heights for some reason.

Of course, this was all before the pandemic. No traveling for now.

The places I want to go are almost always places I can reach only by plane. I like that what would be a 2 day cross-country drive becomes a 2-4 hour plane ride. I think the anti-nausea over-the-counter medicine works best on a plane too!

But I guess the most practical will be driving. Wish my nausea weren't so bad that it made car trips so horrible.
