I remember this was always a huge, huge risk playing online. You would wifi with someone, then suddenly there was a second museum in front of your town gate and you could never wifi again without resetting your town.

It was all thanks to how towns were created. When a new town was made when booting up the game, it would drop "seeds" in random locations -- causing all the shops and museums to spawn. These seeds could be obtained using action replay, so if you wanted a second museum or shop closer to your house, you could have it. This quickly turned treacherous. People would put seeds in their inventory, then come to someone's town and drop the seeds, blocking off important stores and gates. These extra buildings could not be removed.

To make matters worse, the more buildings there were, the more lag there was. So a seeder could drop several buildings and not just keep you from wifi-ing, but it would also keep you from playing.

Seeds are not visible until you enter a building and then leave. There was this huge fear of people coming over and "dropping" something, but nothing showing up. The seeder would then ask to save the game, so the building was permanently there, or they would leave, since leaving saves the game.

Were you ever "seeded"? Did you have to restart your town? And, do you remember this threat?

I remember that. That's why I didn't connect to Wi-Fi on my Wild World. The idea of all of your town just going to waste was so frightening...

I never wifi'd but it wasn't for this reason. My cousin used to seed her own town but would never save lol.

Ugh, seeding. Never had access to wifi when it was still available, but read about it and it looked terrifying!

lol it is fixable
someone showed me this just the other day since i have not played wild world (yet) and i got a good chuckle out of it

i was bricked 3 times and i seeded myself

good times B)

i once placed at least 10 nookington's in my town and i couldn't load up my game lmaoo

it wasn't all bad though, guys! you could decorate your town with seeding to make a "hacked town" feel; it was pretty cool if you didn't abuse it.

on acc there was like anti-seeding clans & seeding clans and there was always this "dont wifi with newbies" rule, it was frightening if you didn't pay attention.

Yes I do. Never got seeded myself thankfully. But I didn't envy those who were. It was just horrible that they were hit by gamers who decided that it was better to cheat and to ruin other people's games then to play fair.

Although it never happened to me, it's scary to think that sorta thing was possible.

I have managed to put Katrina's tent and Crazy Redd's tent near my character's house in my town on Animal Crossing Wild World.

Yea. Especially if it could brick your system. You never do know why people do the things they do.

Oh, I know why they do it. These people have groups of friends, and, in order to impress them, they do what they do. And, what they do, is, damage.
