It has been nearly a year since the online support of the 3ds has been shut down (8 April 2024).
The Eshop has been shut down for over two years (March 27, 2023).

Are you still crackin open that 3ds now in 2025 and beyond? 😎🌆
Are you considering purchasing one? 🐖 🪙
Other thoughts? 🤔 💬

I still play New Leaf several times a month, and that will probably continue for a while. The last few months, I've also been getting back into Tomodachi Life. And occasionally, I'll play a puzzle game like Picross or Tappingo.

Nope! I sold my 3DS a few years back, and I don't plan on buying another one.

Sometimes I think it'd be nice to have again to play New Leaf, Fantasy Life, or one of the Story of Seasons games, though.

I occasionally play on my old 3DS and have been thinking about modding it, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Maybe once I do, I’ll play on it more.

I don't really play my 3DS these days, since I'm often busy playing any new games I've gotten for my other consoles, plus any games I have been replaying lately don't reside on the 3DS. Still, I played it in January to get through Twilight Princess Picross, and I do have the trio of Ace Attorney games that were released for the 3DS that I picked up before the eShop closed that are on my backlog, so I will end up playing through those at some point.

Yeah sometimes, although not as much as other games. I'm still trying to get through that backlog. I have a bunch of 3DS games but the only ones I haven't finished at this point are a few RPGs and some of the picross games. I'll still occasionally take it out to crowded areas hoping for a rare streetpass, although it's been months at this point. I'm hoping a big event that's coming up soon will change that.

Definitely! I had a period during 2019 - 2020 that I used it less but I still played it a few times a month. Aside from that time, since I have had my 3DS I have played it almost every single day! I love so many games on it and it is my ultimate comfort system! My 3DS and Wii U have so many games from my parents that I enjoyed growing up that there are so many I still want to play or 100%! I just always have a good time playing with my systems and that will never change, even if some days I only check on for twenty minutes due to busyness!

play it everyday for 1.5-2.5 hours, i own multiple ! :D

I played it earlier today, so yep! I don’t play it as often as I used to but I do pick it up in spurts at times. Many great titles to play on the little console.

Yup! It's basically the only console I play. I have a few other Nintendo consoles but I don't like the setup, and my brother has a Switch so I usually just wait until he's visiting to play MK8, instead of getting my own.

I occasionally replay the professor layton games and virtual console Pokémon but other than that not really.

Unfortunately my original 3ds battery expanded to the point which it was unsafe to use and had to be disposed of, hasn't been replaced and all I have left is my new 3ds xl. Goes to show over use and time these things do break and maybe 10 years from now I won't be able to play any of my 3ds games without buying a new console

From what I hear, you can replace the battery with a new one. I guess that type of battery is used for different stuff?

You can replace the battery in 3ds yeah, but not sure where to get one from officially (that's not a cheap dangerous Chinese alternative), besides the circle pad rubber has come off so it's just a plastic nub. Not really worth spending the money on now, I'll be more careful with my XL.

Had to throw the expanded one away it could blow any time

I still have both of my 3ds’s. I keep wanting to go back to them to try and finish a few games but keep running out of time. Eventually I will get back to playing them.

Quite actively! c: I only recently got the two Story of Seasons 3DS games (one of which I haven't even started, and the other I expect I'll still be playing for a long time), plus I've still got Style Savvy: Trendsetters, Pokémon Ultra Sun, and haven't 100% completed Fantasy Life yet either. And there's a few 3DS games I wouldn't mind buying in the future!
It's one of my favorite handhelds, and especially with how the Switch 2 prices are looking, I don't expect to be retiring it anytime soon.

I set myself a goal to play though some of my game backlog so that had me using my 3DS earlier this year. I still have a few more games to play on there but I'm balancing that with other games on my PC/Switch that I need to play.

I've actually thought about buying a second one for hacking purposes. Maybe that's something I'll consider more seriously now that I've seen the Switch 2 prices.

Before, yes. I would usually play Wild World and New Leaf daily when I did. I had a few other games I was playing on it too. But it started being weird last summer, like it would constantly crash when I played certain games, or occasionally when I’d turn it on, the blue light on the bottom would come on, but the screen would stay off. I could fix it temporarily by taking off the back cover and pressing down, but it’s probably not a safe or reliable strategy. It’s still usable, and none of those things happen on any Animal Crossing game, but I decided to stop using it anyway. I’ll most likely start using it again someday in the future, but I can live without it right now.

for sure! I was just playing my 3DS today actually 😌 both of my 3DSXLs are homebrewed so they're super fun to play a lot of games on! and of course I appreciate the portability (in speaking of portable consoles, I prefer the 3DS over the Switch in multiple ways).

I haven't in a couple of months. In 2022 my dog stepped on it while the stylus was in the screen and it blacked out about a third of the upper screen, so when I do play, it's kind of annoying to guess what's behind the screen, especially in New Leaf. I like Tomodachi but my island always seems to be way too boring (nobody ever wants to date or propose, just have more babies that I send to the streetpass dock because I don't want them lol).
