Hi everyone,

When I was getting ready to play new horizons I had a pretty good idea of which villagers I wanted:

Julian (Smug)
Colton (Smug)
Whitney (Snooty)
Flora (Peppy)
Chief (Cranky)
Merengue (Normal)
Reneigh (Uchi)
Erik (Lazy)
Marshal (Smug)

In my mind Julian and Colton are together and it must be that way for all eternity, so they are my "extra" 2, so then I will have one of each personality. Starting the game I got Sherb as my Lazy, so it was bye bye Erik from my list, that was the first big change. As you can see, I don't have a jock type, since they are just meh for me (I think I'll go with Dom) and then I discovered that Raymond existed, so now I'm really conflicted about having 4 smugs and no jocks or saying goodbye to Marshal, which is really hard because I love that squirrel. IF ONLY WE COULD HAVE 12 villagers, this won't be a predicament, this is wishful thinking but maybe we get them in a future update, hopefully.

That made me think this question, and I would love to hear your opinion on this topic. Do you think you need to have all personalities to have the full experience?

In NL you had to have all of the personalities because you needed different ones to get the different PWPs... In New Horizons as of right now there's no benefit in having one personality type over another. I think it's totally up to preference for you!

The dialogue seems a bit more fleshed out in this game once you get to know your villagers a bit better, so maybe the conversations won't all be the same?

Yeah, maybe that is why I feel like I need them all, since I'mm use to New Leaf. I was pretty sure how my village was going to look, but now im changing my mind each day, that's what I get because I wanted to organized years of gameplay before the game was even released.

Thank you so much for answering. =)

i feel like u may need to. currently i only have the starting 5 (uchi, normal, peppy, lazy, jock). i feel like some of the personalities are more specific so having more than one may be repetitive (specifically peppy and jock) while others are more lowkey so having more than one just seems like ur average person (specifically normal and uchi). i'm personally gonna aim for all the personalities because they're all kinda updated so it'd be nice to experience them all. eventually i may get rid of one entirely (looking at u uchis, im just not a fan of the character design).

i feel like you might? i mean, certain personalities might give you certain d.i.y recipes but that’s more of a speculation than fact. but at the end of the day, it is entirely up to you! i’m going to have one of each personality except for smug as i don’t really care for any of them and i’m fine with that lol

Not really, but if you want all villager dialogue, you should try for 1 of each. Sometimes multiple villagers with the same personality can feel like clones

I know that you always start with a Uchi and a jock, then the next three are always a normal, a peppy and a lazy, after that is the camper, for me it was a smug (Tex) so I think the game is trying to give you all personalities. And you might be right, for me jock and uchis are meh, though I love reneigh design, so I'll try to get her. For now I have rod as my jock, I will get to know them through him so I can make a better decision.

Thanks for answering.

I find it funny how some people don't care for smugs because I really liked them, so much as to maybe having four, but you might be right about the D.I.Y. recipes. Thanks for answering. =)

Maybe that's why I decided to make Colton and Julian a couple, to make them more interesting. But yeah I got them with amiibo cards and they said exactly the same stuff. Thanks for your answer.
