Alolan_Apples
“Assorted” Collector
By the time you access this level, you will realize that you're getting closer to the end. And this one is pretty important to go through. Despite the golden banana requirement, it's important that you have to beat the Fungi Forest boss (which is the hardest prior to the final boss). Without fighting him, you're not going to get this far.
When I was in the third grade, Crystal Caves was the level I wanted to get to most. Mainly because Tiny Kong had this teleport move called Monkeyport. However, as I got older, I was more bitter about this level as it became one of my least favorite levels in DK64. It's still quite interesting of a level.
Missions to be removed:
Before I go over what missions should be removed, I should explore the A, B, C, and D golden bananas are. Donkey's A and B golden bananas are the barrel blast challenge and the matching lodge. Diddy's are the candle one and the waterfall one. Lanky's are both in the ice castle, Tiny's are within cave walls that require Mini Monkey, and Chunky's require smashing ice walls. The C golden bananas are all in lodges, and the D golden bananas are in the igloo with five doors.
Missions to Change:
There aren't much to change besides changing the barrel blast challenge to making the instrument pads appear, but if there are some to change, here's what I suggest. One of them is to replace all Koshas (these viking enemies with spiked clubs) in the big igloo with gnawties (the beavers from Jungle Japes). And in Tiny's section of the big igloo, there should be a giant yellow beaver instead of the blue beavers. We don't see too many of them in this game after Jungle Japes.
I also want Diddy's blueprint piece moved to where Tiny's once was, while putting Tiny's blueprint piece to where Diddy's once was. The less backtracking there is, the better the level.
Banana Medal Locations:
To access the boss stage, you should have 21 banana medals in total. Since the minimum you should have is 15, you would need six more. If you only have 15, then you should get all five of them in this level and go back to get at least one.
Other Changes:
This time, no sections need to be removed. But one should be transformed into something else. The area where Tiny's bonus barrel once was should be a lava cave.
And I'm not going over the stalactites. That's a challenge I like.
Bonus Golden Banana:
The first step is to shrink through the hole. The next step is to smash the ice wall. There's going to be a pool of lava that Tiny can't twirl across. Even Diddy's Rocketbarrel Boost is disabled. So Donkey Kong will have to walk across the lava to get the banana.

- Donkey Kong - Busy Barrel Barrage: Instead of having this bad game, shouldn't the barrel blast challenge unlock the igloo? Yes, let's remove the star over the igloo and have the barrel blast challenge unlock it instead of this annoying mini-game.
- Diddy Kong - Flying through the waterfall: This one isn't that bad, but I did say something about removing the maze mini-games earlier. Not only that, but I liked both of Diddy's lodge missions and the igloo one.
- Lanky Kong - Tile game: My actual least favorite mission in Crystal Caves is the beetle slide, but I do like having a coin mission in every level like this. So I have to take the second-worst alternative out. This game is frustrating. Unless if we add Dixie Kong, I suggest removing this game. Plus, that ice monster is a poor sportsman.
- Tiny Kong - Krazy Kong Klamour: Tiny Kong has some really good missions in this level. Not only Crystal Caves has the best missions involving Tiny Kong, but Tiny Kong has the best missions out of all five kongs in Crystal Caves (including her blueprint piece location). However, I wouldn't want to keep all four of them. The Monkeyport under the igloo is my favorite mission in-game. And I would like to keep the igloo and lodge ones. So the other one should be the one to remove. Plus, Krazy Kong Klamour gets harder at this point.
- Chunky Kong - Gorilla Gone Test: Like I said before, there is an inconsistency in difficulty in this game. In fact, none of Super Mario 64's missions are as simple as this. The Mario games involve more work than this mission to get one power star or shine sprite. This mission is very close to the level entry, and you just only need to smash the ice wall and turn invisible. And this is in a later level. Yeah, DK64 has not only too much collecting, but too much simple collecting packed in a few levels. Gamers generally prefer more levels and less collecting.

- Donkey Kong - in his section of the lodge, on top of a shelf.
- Diddy Kong - through the waterfall, where the bonus barrel once was.
- Lanky Kong - in his section of the igloo.
- Tiny Kong - inside a newly added igloo you can monkeyport under.
- Chunky Kong - the removed golden banana involving Gorilla Gone should be replaced with this.
