I really have no clue which direction we'll go with the forum software. I talk to different people every now and then and they all have their own opinions. I've talked with someone who runs a website that generates revenue, I've talked to a staff member of ZB, etc. Some have said TBT is wasting money by staying with ZetaBoards. But I've also been told that it won't make much at all either way. And the features are nice, but I don't think just addons would be worth losing all the posts. Features (including addons) and revenue control together is a nice combination though.

So I still have to look into this. It will be an important decision. This week I will be testing ad removal here at TBT. ZB allows you to pay them to remove their ads, so I can put our own. I'll see what it makes. If it's nothing, then perhaps it means we can't make anything on vB and I'll just lose a lot of money. If it's a lot maybe it means staying with ZB is an option because it can make a few bucks. Not sure when I'll start experimenting, but the purpose of this thread is to say: don't get your hopes up either way. We could be moving, we could be staying. Not sure yet. Both options have pros and cons.

I would say do whatever is best for the forum. :)
But if you have to pay alot of money for minor changes then don't do it.

Paying a lot for something small is the wrong way to go.

So whatever works out is hopefully for the best. Even though I'd like to see something new, if nothing new does happen, it won't bother me. Whatever is best is fine with me.

I was agreeing. lol

If moving means new theme, new ranks, new staff, new features then I'm all for it.

But do what YOU think is right, storm. It's your forum and your decision.

You do realise you can also create a VIP option on vBulletin which would give people the option to buy VIP to access extras on the forum, this could include their own sub-forums, bigger avatars, exclusive name colours, etc?

People have done that exact thing on a lot of forums I know & they make a decent amount of money from it.

Yeah, don't you donate to the site to get the VIP rank?

I wouldn't really call it donating, but yes, it is donating XD

This. You guys could also come out with a news letter. If you had a staff that would make a newsletter every week or month, that'd be awesome. And I don't just mean the gaming magazine, I mean an actual newsletter. Hell, I'll start it if I have to, and if you guys OK me on it.

vB or not, that'd be a great idea.

I really like the idea of a TBT newsletter.

Course, we might need more events to keep it interesting. ;)

>subforums

THUS MY LIFELONG GOAL SHALL BE TO BUY A FORUM SUBTLY NAMED: "TROLL'S GROTTO"

I can see some good about moving but, I can see this idea being TBT's downfall if we decide to move and things go wrong. When it comes to the bucks, choose the wiser way. I like the idea of the features but, I suggest TBT stays on ZB if we don't get much for moving to vB. I like the idea of a TBT newsletter because it could keep TBT members excited and informed :). When it comes down to VIP stuff, I don't like it because your forcing people to pay money just to enjoy minor features that may cause disorganization and rip-offs. This is your call Storm but I suggest that you consult with the rest of the staff before taking action. Do whats best for TBT and its Members not for individual gain.

That was actually the original idea of the Gaming Magazine but it kind of evolved :L
EDIT: http://forums.the-bell-tree.com?topic=7239333/1/

When TBT was still young we actully had a TBT newsletter each mounth along with staff\VIP members that ran it. I was apart of it but didn't contribute much. We posted game reviews and TBT anoncments along with upcoming events and member ackoledgements.
