A thought occured recently when I kept seeing different threads about the villager's somehow dissapearing from the island when they're supposed to be visiting the museum. I don't know if this has been confirmed or not and or if it's because it somehow got messed up with the version updates. I have seen a lot of people mention it, so I feel there has to be some credibility to it.

I have walked into the museum a few times, especially when I decided to test out the stamp day once or twice and have never seen any of the villagers in there.

But this 'technical issue' made me realize something. I haven't seen any of my animal villagers talk to each other. I used to see it so frequently in the beginning of the game. I would run up and see what they had to say and their dialogue was lengthy and often good. Now I never see it. It's almost like when they bring up updates, they accidentally mess up the coding of other things. Like the museum visits or duo conversations.

There's only one instance that I see the duo conversations and that's when one of the villagers asks if they can borrow the others catchphrase. I never see any of the other conversations. I don't know if it's just me. Is this happening to anyone else? I talk to all of the villagers regularly, so it's not like I am ignoring them, even if some of their dialogue is subpar.

I actually liked the duo conversations, so it's a shame that I don't get them anymore, whether it's just really terrible rng or somehow they messed up something else with the updates. So again, is anyone else experiencing this?

I saw 2 of them yesterday, and once the day before.

Theyre definitely still in the game :)

My villagers are still having conversations with one another as well thankfully. I do miss seeing them wandering around the different exhibits in the museum though—if they weren't out and about on the island or in one of the shop I was guaranteed to find them in the museum.

Now, I've sometimes needed to exit the game and come back if I can't find a villager.

Could be that your only arriving late to them? I've had that happen to me. I see two characters talking, run up, and then only one talks to me.

Well, I'm probably just arriving late, that could be the case for you too.

I have a few of my villagers having some convos during the past few days. They are still very well within the game (wouldn't even make sense to get rid of them)!

mine are still chatting as well as singing in the town square.
something odd that i noticed...and i dont know if this affects anybody else so i wonder if this might be the issue for your folks not chatting anymore.
for months nooks had been selling the exact same items with nothing new except for the different colors of said items. theres only so many hose reels and lawnmowers in different colors that i was interested in buying lol so i didnt buy anything after awhile and was pretty frustrated because there was literally no furniture in his shop Ever. a few days ago my friend reminded me about the wedding month which i had completely forgotten about; so i had to time travel backwards a month *when im finished my chores on the island i just skip ahead to the next day usually*. when i did that i was thinking that all of the things that i had bought at nooks would still be gone everyday...but thats not what happened. nooks had an entire new inventory every single day with nothing missing or already bought out!
im not sure if by skipping ahead by one day often messed up nooks shop selling cool items and by time traveling backwards fixed the glitch or whatever, and if you do tt maybe you should give it a shot? i know lots of folks dont like to do that though. i think the only thing it messes up is the resident nook miles points and your villager friendships.

I guess I am just unlucky. I do see some commenting that they see them talking, which I do once and a while, but I always initiate interaction and the conversation is only about one villager asking permission from the other to adopt their catchphrase. These conversations aren't as long as the other ones, but they're the only ones I've seen in a few months. Maybe even half a year. These also happen so infrequently for me as well, but sure enough they're always about taking the other's catchphrases.

Rng really sucks.

Two if mine were chatting a moment ago, I haven’t a clue as to what they were talking about as I was busy terraforming. I do find the duo chats are fairly rare but they still occur and it’s cute to see them chatting... or sometimes arguing. 😂

I think I'd put this game down for good if we lost any more villager dialog. That said, Croque and Raymond just had a conversation about Croque being the ink-jet printer ball champion, so they're definitely still having conversations on my island.

lol every time I talk to them when they're having a duo conversation it's always one of them stealing the other's catch that doesn't even work with them. Like Punchy is lazy and likes food, so his is gimmie food! and then Buck a jock is like woah that's cool. And now everyone is a freeloader asking for food.

I'm pretty sure my villagers have been chatting with each other on both of my islands, esp Natsukashi, and it wasn't about asking to borrow their catchphrase.

I love when villagers talk to each other. I run to make sure I speak to them before their conversation is over.

Thought I should add that I've not given any of my villagers catch phrases because I hate how they share them.
So those types of conversations aren't possible on my island.

Not sure if that affects things or not, but figured it was worth adding.

I feel like there is a bit of new dialogue now. I caught a conversation last night between Flora and Snake that I had never heard before, and one-on-one conversations with villagers have brought up new stuff (Cherry upset because no one understands she loves flowers, Dobie talking about wanting to howl at the moon, Gruff asking me to chat him up as being an inspirational figure on the island).

Maybe I have just missed these, but they are fun new (to me) interactions.
