Someone is putting their cards on ebay, ?6 ($9) for Special characters and ?3 ($5) for non special.

Anyone else think that's way too high of a price?

No not really :/

It's reasonable when you think how it's not random, you're getting who you want. And the person who paid for a pack of cards is going to want to make a profit, especially after eBay and PayPal fees.

Most of the low prices are 1.99 to 3.00 with either free or 1.00 shipping so yes, that is high

I think it is a bit a high. Hopefully you can find cards elsewhere where you don't have to pay those prices.

Ugh, I just really want one card, Isabelle, but I the cheapest I see her on ebay is 18$. I definitely can't pay that. :(

I think $18 is a bit much (unless it's the special one that came with the magazine)

At the same time I think 2 dollars is a bit cheap, especially after fees. In my experience I've seen Japanese cards sell for more, so I guess it also depends on what region cards you're referring to

Personally, I think that's a bit high. Happy Home Designer is the only game (so far) that uses the cards and, other than collecting them, they serve little purpose. (As in, there isn't an actual card game based around them.)

The availability and pricing of Amiibos is nothing short of ridiculous as is, so I find it very refreshing that the cards are maintaining low prices.

I don't trust anything in eBay... So I'm just trading on here for now!

that's funny, i'm the other way around.

At least on ebay if you're frauded you can get your money back, but on here... if they don't send the cards, you are screwed with nothing you can do about it :)

Given the cards are so expensive in the UK, I wouldn't want to pay out more money for singles that I thought I needed.
We have another 3 series of these cards coming out so I have to accept I won't get all of them.

I'd rather trade card per card, and I accept that the other person may not send the card at all, or send so that it got damaged - just putting a card in an envelope is not enough - really needs waterproofing (those card sleeve protectors you can buy are nice) and card inserted with the amiibo card to prevent bending. Could slip the card inbetween an old Chrismas/B'd ay card?

Takes effort, some money (envelope/postage etc) and a lot of trust.
I'm going to look to see if there might be a way of trading with people in person - sort of along the lines of streetpass meetings that are sometimes set up.

Edit: given all that effort & trust, maybe I would look on ebay - as said you are covered if it never arrives. If I wanted one really bad!

I second this. eBay takes 10% off the sale price.

A seller would have paid ?3.49 for the pack from Nintendo UK Official Store and lets say they put Tom Nook up for ?5.00... ($7.59)

eBay would have charged them to list that item (unless they did it on a free listing period) and then eBay would take ?0.50 ($0.76) out of the sale. So the seller would be left with ?4.50 ($6.83) So they would have made literally ?1.00 ($1.52) profit.

I think I have worked that out right...
Please let me know if I have made any errors, but I did check on Google Calculator.

But that's just one card, if you add ?3 for each other card, the two normals. That's a ?7 profit.

- the eBay taken money that's still a ?6 profit.
And you did ?1 under the amount OP said, so that is a ?7 profit.

But if you put postage in that too..
Oh god I give up.

I may have slightly misunderstood you and got confused, but if someone brought a pack to then sell on ebay, there is no guarantee they will sell all 3 cards. So they'll want to get the most they can for a card, since other cards may not even sell at all

some of the prices are a bit outrageous, but for the most part most ebay sellers are looking to make the best profit they can, it might make sense if cards were priced at x amount each, but if a seller can get a bit more for a card simply because someone wants it badly then why not

But if they are selling a special card for ?6. Then they are scalpers, if they are selling on eBay at all they are scalpers. Therefore they will sell all of them as they have no need for them other then profit. :p

Yes, I think that is high, when I was 9 years old I was into Littlest Pet Shop and wanted all the rare ones, I couldn't get this one because is cost 100 freaking dollars for a little piece of plastic. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Littlest-Pe...5-AUTHENTIC-/351534276662?hash=item51d9136036

Not true, they could be selling their doubles.

Maybe but I still think that if you are selling your doubles, that is way too high.
I would sell maybe ?2-3 for a special. And ?1-2 for a normal.

You can tell who the scalpers are, like those people who sell the complete series 1 and have 4 available, as well as individual cards for sale (with 5 or more as their stock).

In a way I find it easier to be able to buy certain cards off eBay, so it's good to have some people like that. But when you have to many, it means there's even less cards available for people to buy in store :/

Mmm maybe :p.
But I like swapping more, then you can get all the cards you don't have for dupes or something.

I guess I just find this whole thing weird- in my other hobbies, once you take the thing out of the store/remove the tags/wear it/etc, there's no chance of you getting back what you paid for it (let alone earning a profit) unless it's been out of print for years or is otherwise really rare.

Like, I understand that these being a blind bag item changes the sales dynamic, but it's just really weird to me.
