Sometimes you see arguments about so called underated rated, or post your line up, and do you ever feel like your then being judged, or asumed

I mean, I don't think there is such thing as a rare villager. I always find Audie on hunts, she always haunts me, and still am hunting for Pudge, the lazy cub.
So is way more hard to find for me

But if you have only island villagers, do you feel like some people jusge, as you dont like the ones that people have less of. Because boy do I

I mean were all just having villagers we love, at the end of the day villagers are villagers, and there all the rarest because you gotta find them

But some people, I feel like see ypu differently for who you have. Or think that you dont like other villagers. I mean, I have Raymond, but I still think Boyd is super adorable.

But, anyone else have the feeling of being judged for who you have?

I do get worried that I will be judged on my villager choices at times. I try to keep my villagers varied, but I've got raymond, sherb, and Megan on my island. So yeah.

But I can't really complain about being judged.
I silently judge other people's villagers all the time.
Not for having one or 2, but when I come across islands with all the most popular villagers. Mainly full of 10 normals, I will admit I groan.

I wouldnt tell them it though. That's just rude.

People should be free to do as they like with their islands. Doesn't matter if others like it or not. Only they need to like it.

But at the same time we can't expect everyone to think others villagers are cool.

I think it’s more likely to be judged if you have someone like Raymond. Nobody is going to think twice if I have Mac on my island, although I find him perfect. My most popular villager currently on my island is Goldie, but I have her because she fits my color scheme and I think she’s a sweetheart.

I can see someone wondering inside why someone has Raymond in their town. Like, is it a girl that think he’s attractive and loves him? Or do they just want him because he’s popular and they want to seem cool? I don’t think we should have villagers based on what tier they fall under. All of my villagers were chosen based on their species and color scheme. (My villagers are shown in my signature.)

I don't let it get to me personally, but it is something that exists, so you just kind of have to tune it out.

Not to get to deep, but this is one of the worst aspects of the Internet manifested in Animal Crossing - judging strangers and making assumptions about them based on some small superficial thing.

This happens all the time on the internet. It definitely isn’t just with Animal Crossing. Making assumptions about people in general is wrong, though. You shouldn’t judge someone without knowing them first. You’re absolutely correct. You just have to tune out people like that. You can’t stop someone from thinking certain things.

Just want to add that judging someone's villagers isn't the same thing as judging the person that has them or making assumptions about who they are as a person.

For me at least, just because I think someone has poor taste in villagers, doesn't mean I think anything else about that person.
Just that their line up sucks :p

For the most part, I don’t worry. I play the game how I want, like the villagers who I like, invite who I want. In spite of saying that, I will on the rare occasion worry when I hear how tired people are of Raymond since I have him on my island and I love him. I don’t like being lumped in with the people that like him because he’s popular. I pay no attention to the popularity and I like villagers because I genuinely like their design and their character.

Exactly how I feel like, since I have him too! I just have him because I like him, and hes fun to talk too. But hes no different smugs, hes just the smug cat villager..

I'm not trying to make this too serious and I get that you are joking so I don't mean to pick on your word choice, but saying someone has "poor taste" is a value judgement :)

It's the difference between saying "this thing sucks" or "this thing is not for me". Whatever that thing is (whether it's a villager, a band, a movie, etc), it might be someone's favorite thing, so I don't see the need to put it down.

Poor taste in villagers. Not any other area.
It is judgemental to some degree I admit, but it's why I wouldn't say it to them.

We all think things in our heads we would never say outloud

I just wanted to clarify that any judgement on villager choice does not necessarily extend beyond that. For me it doesn't at least

I find the Pokemon community to be just as bad sadly. Which sucks, because you might just wanna have Groudon on your team because hes adorable, but some just dont ever ponder that option

Yes, but I don't care. I don't really care about the villager popularity stuff because I think you should just get the villagers you like. If you get a villager you don't like but that villager is popular, just do you and keep em if you want or kick em out. And if people hate, who cares? I just ignore haters cause it's MY island, not yours, so, YOU don't tell me what to do.

Yes! I found the experience with the Pokémon community to be bad. I’ve never really played it competitively though, so I didn’t run into any judgment. I did do a Ledyba only run on my Crystal version. I completed it, but it was an absolute pain, especially the Elite Four. I had a few questioning why I chose Ledyba, but I like him. No other reason was needed.

Solo runs are awesome!
Always fun to add extra challenge and bond with a pokemon like that.

Hm. I used to, but at this point, if I want to have all tier 1 popular villagers, then I'm going to, because there is a reason they're tier 1: they're aesthetically pleasing to a lot of players. I'm not going to pass up on villagers I like just because people will eyeroll, or think I think I'm special for having these villagers. I work hard for all of my villagers, be it meticulously island hopping to find them or even just to find the supplies as I scan them in, because I don't keep crafting materials on my person, and I currently have no rocks or trees because I'm trying to draw a pixel by pixel representation of my island, and in doing so have just been placing unending custom designs on every single tile, lol.

The only time I judged someone else was, funny enough, my friend. She picked literally every single villager I liked, including going so far as to bash everyone for enjoying Raymond, calling him ugly and f-ing boring as hell, only to island hop for him, invite him and decide to keep him ( before I could get him ), and then tell me how great he was after 4 days of having him, refusing to work out any deal giving him to me which was going to be the original agreement.

She copied me on Raymond, Marshal, Audie, Fuchsia, Dobie and Genji. I got rid of Fuchsia in exchange for Hazel because I was tired of going to her island and seeing pretty much literally everyone I had at home, and... guess who she ended up getting rid of and getting as well, lmfao.

I don't play with her anymore, and I don't tell her what villagers I have. She's finally purging out ones she doesn't actually like, which is almost everyone, proving she only got them because I had them. Really irritating. It's one thing if it's a coincidence, or if it's one or two you didn't realize you liked until visiting a friend, but do you need their entire roster??

That would be pretty annoying, having all your villagers obviously being copied. I don’t know what I’d do if this happened with me. I wonder if she was doing it to be annoying or because she thought it would annoy you? That’s strange, in my opinion...

Thats crazy!
One or two I can understand. Sometimes when you meet a villager you just find that you really like them. But that's beyond coincidence.

Can't imagine why anyone would want an island full of villagers they don't actually like.

I did the same with Skitty in Alpha Saphire! It was kinda difficult, but interesting!

This isn’t something I really care about. If someone judged me based on my villagers I would not care. I’m not insecure about video games. I could not care less if someone was like “OMG GORILLAS ARE SO UGLY WTFFF” Like okay? Good for you?
