I love animal crossing and the new game is great. However i am really disappointed in how the mystery islands work. I have used 20 Nook Miles Tickets and yet i keep getting my native fruit and flowers.

I honestly don't think i should need to purchase Nintendo online to get all of the fruits. I hate how restricted it feels without the online membership.

Do the old fashion trick to get fruit. Mail each of your villagers your native fruit.

i agree - it sucks that we’ll only get our native fruit and flower most of the time

If you know anyone in person with a Switch and game, local multiplayer doesn't require a subscription

Wait does that really work in this game?

It's been a tip floating around at least since the Wild World days. How well it works, or whether or not it's in New Horizons is unknown to me.

Same, it's a shame too because getting 2000 NookMiles takes a while if you get no achievement. Technically we get resources from any mystery island, but I still wish 2000 NookMiles got me more than the resources of a small island. I'd rather see the trash island than a native one again.

Does this work? I tried sending a few on Saturday but had.no mail return.

I don't know if Nintendo included it in New Horizons, but for players in older games without wifi, the trick was to write a letter to your villagers and say something about fruit like "Here is fruit" or "Give me fruit" and there was chance they would send you a letter back thanking you for the letter and gift, and they will attach an item, of which could be fruit.

I totally get what you're saying. Even before we were able to get our hands on NH, I was a little wary about the online thing. Seems like it's doing what it seemed it would.

But don't give up! Try mailing fruit to your villagers for a bit and see how that goes.

yeah, I've been luckier than others but it still feels like it's harder than it should be. I think that's because there's an emphasis on multiplayer now. They want you to trade with other players but it seems unfair to those who can't do that.

I feel you! I wand cherries so bad and i was content with having oranges as my native fruite because i thought there would be a way to buy them but now i need to trade for them. I might need to trade for other things too so i will just get an online membership later on.

Its RNG I use 10 nook ticket so far and got a non-native fruits, hybrid flowers island, and all 3 of my villagers, one being
a dreamy. However on my first playthrough it was pretty much the same as you.

To me, it's stupid they're forcing you to pay for online membership to something that is technically free to them (aka, connecting to other people's town's via internet connection). It's not like Sony/Microsoft where they're using that online money to pay for their servers.
