Fire Emblem on Virtual Console

So, as a Fire Emblem fan who is fairly new to the series (only played Awakening and Fates) I've been wanting to play some of the older games in the series. Since some of the games are crazy expensive now (Like Path of Radiance) I decided to see what was available on Virtual console.

Thankfully at least the first two games released in North America, Fire Emblem (Blazing Sword) and Fire Embem Sacred Stones are both on the Eshop so I bought them for $8 each.

So far I've been playing Blazing Sword and I'm liking it so far. I've always liked older games in general be it GBA or original GB. I do find the beginning of BS super tutorial heavy, but as a Nintendo fan this is nothing new to me.

What at about you guys have you played these games before (on cartridge or VC) and what did/do you think of them?

I had one of the GBA ones back when I had an ambassador console and I guess it was alright, didn't play too much but I enjoy srpg's in general so if I had the chance to play it more I probably would have enjoyed it more, too.

I've emulated Blazing Sword.

I've played about 13 chapters of fe7 and really enjoyed it, but the phone I was emulating it on got replaced and so I'll have to start over. I got it on virtual console for when I do, though! I've also tried a little bit of fe8 Sacred Stones and have a translated ROM for fe6, but I haven't dived too deep into them yet. I don't want to get involved in too many without finishing some of them up. I haven't even finished Birthright on Fates yet and need to find the motivation to do so again.

I feel you on looking for an affordable copy of Path of Radiance, though. I want it so bad :c

I don't have Sacred Stones, but I did get FE7 on Wii U virtual console. I've finished about 14 chapters. I'm trying to complete the chapter I'm currently on, but it's so hard. I think I would like Sacred Stones better because apparently it's easier, but then there would be no Eliwood, and I really like Eliwood.

i have sacred stones on ambassador 3ds! i love sacred stones, but i may just have a soft spot for it because it was my first fe game haha

Ah yeah, I really like Eliwood! Even though as a unit he's been less than effective for me so far :/ Hopefully he gets better with some more leveling?
I really love the lord trio in 7. Probably some of my favorite characters in the series. Plus Matthew. I'm not even sure why I like Matthew so much but just look at his sprite animation

I think we are clones, because besides Eliwood, Lyn, and Hector, Matthew is my favorite.

I've heard Eliwood is weak and has a bland personality, and most people dislike him, but I personally have the opposite opinion. He sure has better manners than Hector, haha.
