Usually, when I'm trying to find the worth of items, I use the search thread feature and see the average of bells people are selling/buying the item for. But with the new update, the search feature is either gone or hidden somewhere.
I hunted fish bait for others but later I found out while browsing the forums that I was undercharging for my services, thinking I was actually overcharging (and getting burnout in the process). I want to start hunting fish bait again but at a price range I feel comfortable with. But without the search feature, I can't find an accurate average. I remember someone offering 7k per fish bait though, so if that's its worth, I might go with that.
So, I want to ask you guys, if you were to purchase fish bait, how much would you pay per bait, per stack, and/or per 100 if you were paying in IGB?

Sorry if this is not the appropriate place to post this, but I'm curious.

While I can't help ya with the worth of fish bait myself, I can help you with finding the search feature.

It should be to the far right of the brown box that's beneath the tree in the header, both on mobile and on desktop. You can use advanced search to look through things in more detail.
To be fair I've not used it except once and I don't know how reliable it is at the current moment! Sorry I can't help with fish bait prices though.

Boi oh howdy do I feel dumb! I was checking around the filter area, thinking it was there because that's where it was before the new update, thank you!!

I still want people's opinions on what they think fish bait is worth so I don't overcharge or undercharge!

I'm curious, do we have to use fish bait, or can we catch fish without it?

The easy answer is it's worth what someone is willing to pay. If you can get 7k per, take it. I considered setting up a bait shop, selling bait for 1k each, minimum of 5 per order, and then going higher if someone wants more.

It takes time to hunt and craft large volume, and 100k for 100 simply isn't enough for my efforts.

You can catch fish without, but it's easier if you're going after that elusive fish (stringfish, golden trout, char, sturgeon, etc.), as it saves a ton of time in trolling waters looking for one fish.

As far as I know, there is no fish that's exclusive to fish bait, you can catch every fish without the help of fish bait. But people like to buy/use it because you have a better/faster chance of finding a rarer fish (especially the ones exclusive to the piers, I also heard if you use fish bait while it's not raining, you have a chance to encounter a coelacanth) and it's just faster all around. Also if you know how to use your fish bait effectively while CJ is in town, you can make back that money.

100% percent agree. I was actually thinking of just giving away fish bait if they only want like 5 or so, but charging 1k each and going up the more they want is also a good idea!
But yeah, I originally charged 3k per piece and I had A LOT of 300 fish bait orders and it was NOT worth the effort. I can get 100 fish bait in like 30 minutes to an hour, but 300 takes ALL NIGHT to get because I have to take breaks. I felt like I didn't get enough for the work and effort I went through, and the people only buying 100 were giving me way more money than the 300 orders because they understand how much of a bloody pain it is find and craft fish bait.

Most people don't account for the fact that the actual time you spend digging and crafting those items should be included in your price. You're right, you could pound through 100 bait in 30 minutes, but could you have spent that time doing something better?

I ultimately decided that I am the only person that will use the bait I craft. I've got 150 or so stockpiled, waiting for May 1st.

I can help you out with that cuz I was looking this up just before the forum switchover and have my negotiations recorded in private messages:

"I see bait sell for 25K-50K per stack of 10.

I see nook miles tickets sell for 250K-300K

That would mean 1 ticket = 6-12 stacks."

So for me, it was 1 ticket = 10 stacks of 10 (100).

I was actually thinking of selling 1-2 tickets per 100 so this is helpful insight! Also, when did this conversation take place? The economy in this game is rapidly changing so the price of fish bait is slowly going up as more people realize the time it takes to make it in bulk

March 29. You've been really underpricing your bait. Though of course, bait could possibly go at a premium toward the end of the month. You might do well to hoard your bait till the end of the month when people panic cuz they haven't gotten the fish leaving. Still though, I'd pay more than 7k for the pain of having to craft those individually being removed.

That's probably a good idea, but there's only really 3 fish leaving and one is super common and the other two are the pier fishes. But then again, pier fish are pretty rare. I've heard people still can't get their hands on the Blue Marlin. So actually maybe bait will sell well at the end of the month?
I'm just kinda thinking to myself at this point lol

I've caught enough marlins to fill the dinosaur museum. I've only caught one tuna, and that took 3 stacks of bait for my final attempt!

Another consideration is that during Bunny Fortnight, bait will always ensure real fish, not eggs. So people might value it highly during Bunny Fortnight. And... people might want to get 3 for CJ to make into a plaque above the 1 they need for the museum.

Oh, that's a good point! I remember making that point to myself not long ago but it completely slipped my mind because I have the memory of a goldfish.
I might do a few slots during the bunny day season and start doing slots again towards the end of the month
