How to grow a hybrid

Take two roses, or two tulips, or two cosmos, or two pansies, and put them next to each other. They can be on the same line or diagonally touching. Then, if you have a color combination that produces hybrid flowers, you might find a hybrid flower growing near those two one day. Hybrid flowers are very rare, though, and you might not get one for a long time.
About 3 to 5 new flowers will appear in your town every day. New flowers appear at 6AM.
Diagonal planting creates more spots for a hybrid flower to appear

Take a look at the illustration below. The Os represent two flowers of the same type. The Xs represent places where a hybrid flower might appear. You can see that there are 10 squares around the two flowers. These ten squares are where a hybrid flower could appear.

Now take a look at the below illustration. You can see that if you put the flowers next to each other diagonally, there are 12 squares where a hybrid flower could appear. This means that diagonally planted flowers have a slightly greater chance of producing hybrid flowers than flowers planted in a straight line.

The color combinations

Here is a list of the color combinations that can produce hybrid flowers. Please note that a color combination of one flower type might not have the same hybrid results as the same color combination of a DIFFERENT flower type.
Roses

White + White = White or Purple
Red + Red = Black or Red
Black + Purple = Black or Purple or Blue
White + Yellow = White or Yellow
Red + White = Pink or White or Red
Red + Yellow = Black or Red
Yellow + Yellow = Yellow
Wilted Black + Water from Golden Watering Can = Golden
Tulips

White + White = White
Red + Red = Black or Red
White + Yellow = White or Yellow
Red + White = Pink or White or Red
Red + Yellow = Red or Yellow or Orange
Yellow + Yellow = Yellow or Black
Pansies

White + White = White or Blue
Red + Red = Red or Purple
White + Yellow = White or Yellow
Red + White = White or Red
Red + Yellow = Red or Yellow or Orange
Yellow + Yellow = Yellow
Cosmos

White + White = White
Red + Red = Red or Black
White + Yellow = White or Yellow
Red + White = White or Red or Pink
Red + Yellow = Red or Yellow or Orange
Yellow + Yellow = Yellow

There's already a Hybrid Guide on this forum. And not that many people breed hybrids. I'm probably the only person on this board who takes crossbreeding hybrids seriously.

Dude, your guide is flawed. Red and yellow tulips make purple, not orange. Orange tulips don't exist.

And what is the point of crossbreeding white and yellow?

It's pretty helpful for newcomers, but I still feel that it's missing something. He forgot about the carnations.

Carnations are special flowers exclusive to CF that you get from your parents. You get a pink carnation bag on Mother's Day and a red carnation bag on Father's Day. You can crossbreed them to get white carnations, as well as more pink and red carnations.
