Okay. I?m not saying we can cook....but maybe? Or maybe there is shop that sells food. Won?t let me post pics, but there was one video of an animal eating ice cream while sitting down. I just seen a picture of a villager sitting down with soup. There was a villager drinking something from a mug.

We seen sweet tea on isabelles desk. Drinks on the beach. This can?t be all for display. We have seen outside stoves.

I honestly think they're mainly just decor items
Fans have always loved the food decor, so it's likely that the developers added a ton more of them for us to decorate with.

We have had some edible things like ice cream and lollipops before, so I think those will return and there might be more similar items. But I definitely think the primary use for food things is as decoration

maybe they added some new edible food items for us? it’d make sense for them to add some more ice cream varieties and some tropical drinks since y’know, we’re on an island :p

I think there'll probably be craftable food that is for decoration like in the ACNL and ACPC games, but I've been seeing little shots of my Rosie nomming on ice cream happily in my pocket camp and Beau shaking maracas in his adorable way so I think it'll be like that, not interactable for us but adorable to see!! <3

Ooh! What if Brewster's Caf? got an expansion and they now sell food items :D!

That’s what I am hoping. I’ve wanted him to expand for years lol. So maybe he finally listened lol.

I think we'll possibly be able to buy food on special occasions, or we'll see villagers randomly eating and drinking like they do in PC.

It’d be cute if they had an NPC with an ice cream truck during summer that you and villagers could buy from.

Then you could all walk around eating your ice cream. Or a lazy villager could run up and ask for bells to buy one.

I feel like they wouldn't hide cooking if they presented crafting from the very beginning.

we were shown that it was possible to craft food themed furniture items from the beginning. however i'm not so sure about consumable food items like fruit and coffee being expanded upon. surely those consumable food items will help increase our energy meter but an actual "cooking" system doesn't seem very likely to me.

Energy meter?

Isn't that just to dig up trees?
Please don't tell me it's a constant thing. :(

I think it's more decorative food items much like in Happy Home Designer and in previous titles :) Maybe they added more for New Horizons for crafting or to be bought?

As for if they are consumable, a cool possiblity is that the Roost doesn't just sell coffee, now they sell caf? foods and treats! Or there's something like Streetpass in which you can receive ice creams and sweets like that, or maybe they are consumable treats for the villagers to interact with!

I hope to see what this means in game :)

Actually come to think of it, I didn't see any return/mention of that energy meter. I was pretty sure we would've seen it, there was tons of footage of editing. Wouldn't you think that creating a whole new waterfall would diminish an apple's worth of energy or two at the least? I'm wondering now if they removed it... Surely it would've popped up with all that footage if not.

I thought of that just after I posted, that there wasn't an apple count anymore.

That would be great if they took it out.
I think it was unnecessary, because if we needed to eat to dig up trees, it wouldn't make sense that we can transform the island without energy.

I hope it's gone completely. :)

It did pop up, at 22:13 only when digging up trees (looks like 10 can be stored at a time for digging up trees)

I think most of the food we've seen in decorative.

I would like more "fun" foods that don't really serve a purpose. Ice Cream and fruity tropical drinks have been mentioned. Having both of those available from a cute little cart or something would be fun. They don't serve a purpose, but they can just make a moment feel so cute and magical.

I love the little streetpass foods. They are really hard to get in New Leaf now. I would love it if the Cafe got an upgrade and Brewster decided to add on an employee to sell pastries and stuff. Like a partner dove that sold sweets. Or maybe Phillis really decided to get out of the mail business and try baking.

i mean technically if we can craft food and drink decorations we are cooking. i hate myself for that statement. but i don't think all the lil things the villagers were seen eating around town/island mean we can craft food and give it to them. in acpc villagers just kinda do the same thing, much as it pains me to mention the game, but they're seen with coffees and ice creams i think.
