Forcing out villager with amiibo not working

I'm new to amiibos so, forgive me if I'm doing something wrong!

So I'm currently at 10 villagers, I've already checked, I have no villagers wanting to move out!

I have a Punchy amiibo card, I've invitedhim for 3 days straight, crafted the three items, and the third time he talks to resident services about moving in, comes back and says my town is too full. the next day, same thing. and the day after that.

I've also had this happen with two different regular campers who would talk to resident services and say that my town is too full for them to move in.

There's been no option or suggestion of forcing out someone else. I do TT, I have 3 stars, I don't really know what's wrong here. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

Really we have to have ten villagers that's a ton.. the island is not big enough for all of them

You don't NEED 10 actually! You can have 7 or 8 and that's enough to unlock the terraforming feature at the end of the game. You can have as many villagers as you put plots down.

Pretty sure one of the requirements to get a 5 star rated town is to have max villagers. I could be wrong though.

I'm not sure tbh... I know when Nintendo fixed the villager glitch a couple days ago a whole bunch of NEW problems came with it. I recommend reporting this to Nintendo because there isn't much we can answer on the forums here; especially if it's an unintentional bug.

The patch where they fixed the villager issue was 2? Days ago. It was the patch before this one. The patch from today was to fix the balloon glitch c:

oops i have no sense of time i work full time LOL

i had this happen around a week ago with 2 regular campers and figured it was just because they were regular campers. but after ~7 tries, punchy refuses to move in because my town doesnt have space and my friends have no idea what's up with it either.

That was the only thing left in the game that made me order it.

I think if you talk to them a second time after they say there's no open residences, you can have them replace somebody that way

Worked fine for me this morning. Flo is currently packing her bags to make way for Molly.

I do remember Molly returning from Resident Services saying we were full, but then said the only way she could move in was if we asked someone to move out. I chose whatever option translated to "Heck Yes," and then a list of villagers popped up. I chose Flo. She went and asked Flo if she was ready to go, and apparently, Flo said yes. Whew.

Tomorrow, I start the 3-day journey with Merengue.

Yea it worked for me when I forced Quillson out using Flora (amiibo) today and also you don't need a 5 star town because my town has 3 stars and it worked perfectly for me.

Yep I did the same thing this morning with my Merengue amiibo and it worked fine.

hmm... yeah, seems like everyone else is fine and it's just me having this issue, no matter how many times i invite them back or talk to them while they're there. i'm going to try with different amiibos and see what happens. worst case scenario i just tt out my unwanted villagers lol
