Hi,
I really like the thread in Animal Crossing New Leaf titled "Ask Questions about New Leaf here! (Read first before creating a thread)" and I read it often just to learn new things. But I have noticed that often the same questions come up over and over. Have you ever considered posting a sticky with FAQ's?

• How many letters can my Character’s name be? 1 to 8
• Can I add symbols in my Character’s name? Yes
• How do I send money/furniture/fruit etc. to my friend? You can only give someone an item by dropping it on the ground for them to pick up.
• Can two Characters in the same Town share a bank account? No, but Character A can drop bags to be picked up by Character B.
• Can you still get a shopping card? No
• Is there still an ABD (Automatic Bell Dispenser)? Yes, at the Post Office and on the Island. You can also obtain one for your home after you have deposited 1 million bells into your account.
• Can I store my gyroids with Brewster? No, but you can rent a room at the Museum once you have the 2nd floor upgrade.
• Can I still make up my own constellations? No
• Do the Villagers still talk to each other? Yes
• How can I join their conversation? Stand between them and press ‘A’ to talk.
• Do the Villagers still play hide-n-seek? Yes
• How do I turn off Animalese? You can’t in New Leaf.

• Can I create a Secondary Character without a house? No, each Character has to have one house.
• How many visitors can I have over? 3 at a time
• What time does a new day start? 6:00AM
• Do the Villagers still give you their pictures? Yes
• Can my Character wear a Mii mask? Yes, once you have access to Shampoodle’s.
• How do I change the skin tone of my Character’s arms and legs? You can’t.
• Where do I find gems? Every day there is 1 new rock in Town. If you break it with a shovel, it will produce a gem.
• Why do I keep tripping? There are random days that you occasionally trip while you are running.
• How do I get a tan? You must stay outside for a couple of hours, without a hat or umbrella, on a sunny day during the summer or on the Island.
• I’m too tan, how can I make it fade? It generally wears off within a week but you can aid the process by wearing certain hats or using an umbrella.

Spoiler: FRIENDS/BEST FRIENDS

• How many Friends/Best Friends can I have? 100 Friends total, 32 Best Friends.
• What is the difference between the Friend List and the Best Friend List? The Friend List is associated with your 3DS machine is the same for all of your Characters in all of your games. The Best Friend List is only associated with the Animal Crossing game and there is a separate Best Friend List for each Character.
• What is different about Best Friends? You receive in-game notifications when a Best Friend is online and you are capable of sending messages between each other, even when you and the other player are not in a Town together. You also have the option to open your gate to your entire Friend List or just Best Friends only.
• If I go to another Town where other players are also visiting and they are not on my Friend List, can I add them while we are in the same Town? Yes, select the player list and if someone is not on your Friend List, you won't see a heart by their name. Tap their name and you will have the option to add them. Once a heart appears by their name you then have the option to add them as a Best Friend.

• Can I kick a Villager out? No
• How do I get a Villager to move? Villagers move out randomly. TTing is really the only way to speed it up.
• How do I TT (Time Travel)? By changing the date and/or time on your 3DS machine before loading the game.

• Is there still a limit of two Villagers/Town with the same personality? No
• Will my Town have at least one Villager with each personality? Not necessarily.
• How do I trade or give away a Villager? When a Villager tells you they are moving on a certain day, that is the day their boxes will be packed. A visitor can come talk to that Villager and ask them to move into their Town (as long as the visitor does not already have 10 Villagers).
• I just paid off the Campsite project, how long will it be until I get my first Camper? Campers show up randomly
• Do Campers always move into Town? They can’t if you already have 10 Villagers.
• I only have 9 Villagers, Can I ask my Camper to move in? Yes
• My Camper agreed to move in, how long will it be until their fenced lot shows up? 2 days the Camper shows up on the 3rd day.

Spoiler: SPECIAL VISITORS

• How do I find out if there is a Special Visitor in Town? If you have a Police Station, Copper/Booker will tell you who’s in Town. Otherwise, you just have to look around.
• I was trying to take Katie to another Town but she dropped something and got off the train. Is she still in my Town? No, tomorrow you will get a letter from her saying she caught the next train.
• Can I still select the day of the week that Crazy Redd will visit? No, and his visits are not necessarily weekly, they are random.
• How do I get paintings/sculptures? You have to buy them from Crazy Redd.
• Does he still sell fake art? Yes, but now there are guides on how to identify the fakes before you make a purchase.
• Does Crazy Redd build a permanent shop? No
• What is the garbage can in front of the shop for, I can’t use it? It is a placeholder for the shop behind it, which will become Katrina’s.
• How do I get Katrina to build a permanent shop? You have to have your fortune told 20 times.
• Can I just visit her 20 times in one day? She will only tell your fortune once.
• Will it count if I invite other players over and they get their fortune told? Yes
• Why hasn’t Katrina opened her shop, I’ve had 20 fortunes read? Your main Character must be her most recent customer.
• Does Joan still come on Sunday mornings? Yes
• Why doesn’t Joan offer to sell me red turnips? She only sells white turnips now.
• How do I wake up Gulliver, the pelican that’s asleep on the beach? Repeatedly try to talk to him and he will eventually wake up. He will then ask you to help him remember what country he is travelling to. If you answer correctly, he will mail you a piece of furniture the next day.
• When does Pete deliver the mail? Between 9:00-9:30AM and 5:00-5:30PM every day
• What if he couldn’t deliver something to me because my mailbox was full? You will receive it on the next delivery.
• How many songs can I request from K.K. Slider each Saturday night? You can request as many as you like but he will only give you a copy of the first one.
• Where do I put the songs? Any music system (CD player, Radio, etc.) will store your songs.
• When does Gracie begin visiting? Once you have the T.I.Y. upgrade of Nook’s.
• When Gracie comes to do a fashion check, will I only get one chance to pass? Yes
• Can I go to someone else’s Town and visit Shrunk to get a new emotion? No
• What is the badge I just got from Phineas? It is just an achievement.
• Do the items I collect during Island tours count towards badge totals? Yes

Spoiler: MAYOR/TIME TRAVEL

• Do I have to be the Mayor? Yes, the Primary Character does.
• If I create a Secondary Character, will I have two Mayors? No, just the Primary Character will be Mayor.
• Can I delete the Mayor but keep my Secondary Character? No, if you delete the Primary Character, you will delete your whole Town.
• Do I have to attend all the events, such as the Bug-Off? No
• So what happened to Tortimer? He is the host for the Island tours now.
• Can I choose more than one Town Ordinance? Not at the same time.
• Can I change the Town Ordinance any time I want? Yes, but you have to pay 20,000 bells each time.
• When does a Town Ordinance take effect? The following day at 6:00AM
• When will I be able to change the style of the Train Station? You have to have 100 visitors. It does not have to be 100 different players.
• Do visits via the Dream Suite count? No
• How can I track how many visitors I’ve had? Once your Town Tree has grown to the point that you can sit on it, the screen will show you how many visitors you’ve had.
• Someone just wrecked my Town, can I kick them out? You can choose “End Multiplayer Session” by pressing Start. This will send all visitors back to their own Town, however any damage they caused will be saved. Your other option is to press the Power button.

Spoiler: HOUSE/HRA (Happy Room Academy)

• How many levels can I build? 3 (upstairs, main floor, basement)
• How many rooms per level? 1 upstairs, 4 main floor, 1 basement, for a total of 6 rooms.
• If I have the bells, can I just buy the mansion? No, you must buy each expansion.
• How long will I have to wait between expansions? Each home loan isn’t available for repayment at the Post Office until the day following the ordered expansion.
• How many bells does it cost to get to the mansion? 7,595,800
• How many more spaces does the house take as you add rooms? The house will get no larger than the fenced area around it.
• Can I move my house? No
• Can I put my house on the beach if I have enough room? No
• Can visitors take things from my house? No, but they are able to take things from the rest of your Town.
• If I change the exterior of my house, will I still have the original exterior if I want to change back? No, you will have to reorder it when it is available.
• If I buy a different roof style will it stay the same color as my current roof? No, it will be the color shown in the shop.
• How many pieces of furniture can I have per room? 48
• What does practicing Feng Shui do? It will increase your HRA score.
• Does my basement count towards my HRA score? No.

Spoiler: VILLAGER HOUSES

• After a Villager moves out, will the next one to move in, put their house in the same place? No, it will be a random location.
• Is there a way to keep a Villager from moving out? If they tell you they are thinking of moving, you can ask them to stay, but there is nothing you can do once their boxes are packed.
• Can a Villager move in on top of my hybrid flowers? Yes, they can put their house on top of your flowers/bushes/trees/paths, just not a PWP.
• Will I find my flowers, etc. in the Lost and Found? The only thing that will end up in the Lost and Found will be mushrooms.
• So if I want to keep a new Villager from moving onto a certain area, can I put a PWP there? Yes. And if you want to simply ‘reserve’ that area for a future purpose, you can build a non-permanent project, such as a Fence/Bench/Clock/Street Lamp etc. and then demolish it when you are ready to use the space.
• How large of a space will a project ‘reserve’? Each project has its own space restrictions.
• Is there any other way to control where a Villager moves in? Please read this post by AOJones http://www.belltreeforums.com/showt...uot-where-houses-appear&highlight=controlling

• Can I still burry a shovel and dig it up tomorrow as a gold shovel? No
• Where can I buy a watering can/axe? They will be available once you have access to the Garden Shop.
• How do I get a silver net/rod/shovel? Once you have the Museum’s 2nd floor upgrade and have donated 30 bugs/fish-15 fossils, the shop will sell them.
• Where do I buy a silver axe? It will be in the Island’s Shop, but is rare.
• Where do I buy a silver watering can? The Garden Shop after you buy 50 flower bags.
• How do I get a silver slingshot? It will appear as a floating balloon present with 2 silver balloons.
• How do I get all the gold tools?
You must catch all the bugs to get a gold net at the Bug Off.
You must catch all the fish to get a gold rod at the Fishing Tournament.
You must buy 50 bags of fertilizer for the gold shovel to be sold at the Garden Shop.
You must buy 50 tree saplings for the gold axe to be sold at the Garden Shop.
You must maintain a ‘Perfect Town’ for 15 days for Isabelle to give you a gold watering can.
A gold slingshot will appear as a floating balloon present with 3 gold balloons.
• Where can I buy a toy hammer? It will be in the Island’s Shop, but is rare.

Spoiler: BUGS/FISH

• How can I heal myself after I get stung by bees? You can either buy medicine at Nook’s or Save & Quit, then restart your game.
• Can I catch the bees before they sting me? If you are fast enough.
• What is the thing that appears on the river, then turns into a shadow, then re-appears? It’s a diving beetle and you have to catch it with your net while it’s not a shadow.
• How am I supposed to catch a scorpion/tarantula? If they see you with your net, they will attack you. You have to approach them from behind.
• Can I eat/cook the fish I catch? No

Spoiler: FRUIT/BEANS

• My native fruit is ___, how do I get the others? Apples/oranges/pears/peaches/cherries are the native fruits. You can sometimes get a non-native fruit from writing a letter to a Villager or sometimes they give you a piece of fruit as a thank you for doing an errand. Otherwise, you will have to get them from another player.
• Where can I find mangos/durians/lemons/lychees/bananas/coconuts? These are found during Island tours and can be harvested and taken back to your Town.
• Where can I find persimmons/bamboo/fertilizer? All are available for sale once you have the T&T Emporium, the last Nook Shop expansion.
• Where should I plant my fruit? All fruits can be planted anywhere in Town, except bananas and coconuts, which must be planted on the beach.
• What is ‘Perfect Fruit’? It will look slightly different and it sells for 6x the normal amount.
• How do I get ‘Perfect Fruit’? A ‘Perfect Fruit’ will randomly grow on one of your native fruit trees. Using fertilizer will increase the chances.
• What happens if I plant a ‘Perfect Fruit’? A ‘Perfect Fruit’ tree will bare more ‘Perfect Fruit’ but will only do so about 7 times, and then it will lose its leaves.
• Can I plant a foreign ‘Perfect Fruit’? You can, but it will only produce normal fruit.
• What can I do with the coffee beans? They have no use, sell them.

Spoiler: FLOWERS/GRASS

• What is fertilizer for? Growing ‘Perfect Fruit’ and hybrid flowers.
• Will fertilizer help my grass grow back? No, but placing flowers on the dirt and watering those flowers every day will help your grass grow back.
• If I place designs on the ground, will it preserve the grass underneath? No it won’t
• If I walk/run on my flowers, will it destroy them? Yes, and so can visitors.
• If my Villagers walk across my flowers, will it destroy them? No
• Does rain/snow count as watering the flowers? Yes
• Can a storm kill my flowers? No
• Do I have to water the flowers if I have the Beautiful Town Ordinance? Yes, if you want the grass to grow or if you want to produce hybrids.
• Can I breed hybrids on the beach? Yes
• Will my potted flowers in my house wilt/die? No
• How many flowers do I need to get a ‘Perfect Town’? A minimum of 75 flowers distributed as 6-10 flowers per acre.

Spoiler: TREES/BUSHES/BAMBOO

• How much space do I need to leave around a tree/bamboo? 1 space in each direction. You should be able to walk all the way around it.
• Do I have to leave a space between bushes? No you can plant them next to each other, or next to a tree but you can’t plant them against a building/cliff etc.
• If I walk/run through the bushes, will it destroy them? You can’t walk through them, they are a solid barrier so do not plant them anywhere that will block access to something.
• Where can I buy bushes? Red and yellow hibiscus are randomly sold in the Island Shop and all other bush seedlings will be available once you have access to the Garden Shop.
• Can I plant a bush next to a tree? Yes
• How do I get rid of a bush? You have to dig it up with a shovel.
• How do I get the stumps with special markings? They are created if you chop down a tree with a silver axe. You can also get them on rare occasion from a normal and gold axe.
• What do the special stumps do? If you leave them, mushrooms will grow next to the stump.
• Will stumps disappear by themselves? No, you have to dig them up with a shovel.
• How do I get bamboo to sprout? Once a bamboo plant is fully grown it will sprout X’s on the ground nearby. These sprouts must be dug up with a shovel.
• Why does everything I plant in this certain spot wither and die? There are dead spots in your Town where nothing will grow no matter what you do.
• I planted a tree/bush yesterday and it is brown today? You won’t get anything to grow in that spot except flowers.
• Can you still plant bell trees? Yes, once you have a golden shovel.
• How many times will a bell tree produce bells? Only once, it will then be just a normal tree.
• How many trees do I need to get a ‘Perfect Town’? Between 110-200 trees distributed as 12-16 trees per acre.

Spoiler: HH SHOWCASE/STREETPASS

• What is the archway at the top of the Town’s Shopping Area? This is the Happy Home Showcase where you collect houses from other players via Streetpass.
• What can I do there? Visit the houses and you can order some of the items that are displayed.
• If I Streetpass the same person will I get their house again? No each time you Streetpass the same person their Character will be waiting in the HH Showcase with gifts, balloons/pinwheels/ice cream etc.
• What is Streetpass? When you carry your 3DS around in public and it is on the main Homepage in Standby Mode (no game is running) and you pass another person with a 3DS that is also in Standby Mode.
• What is the distance for Streetpass? 30 to 100 feet
• What is Spotpass? These are houses sent to the HH Showcase directly from Nintendo.

? How do I get Play Coins to buy the fortune cookies? The 3DS has a pedometer that counts steps as you walk around. 100 steps = 1 play coin and you can earn up to 10 play coins per day.
? I ate the fortune cookie, how do I redeem my prize? Give the ticket to Timmy/Tommy.
? Does buying a fortune cookie count as a purchase towards upgrades? Yes, each cookie counts as 500 bells.
? I?ve been playing the game for awhile and have spent a lot of bells at Nook?s so why can?t I get the last upgrade, Nook?s Emporium? You must pass 4 of Gracie?s fashion checks.
? Can I revert back to previous versions of the store after I have upgraded? No
? I can?t find the catalog machine? It isn?t available until you have the T&T Mart upgrade.

? Can I catalog customized items? Yes, but it will catalog as the original uncustomized item.
? Does ordering from my catalog count as purchases towards upgrades? Yes
? If I shut down the game and return to the shops later in the day, will the items for sale change? No, they will be the same. The items change each day at 6:00AM.
? When will I be able to get contacts at Shampoodles? Once the shop has been open for 2 weeks.
? Can I my girl Character get a boy?s hairstyle? Your Character has to have tried all the girl hairstyles before any of the boy hairstyles will be an option.

? Where do I access the QR machine? Once you have befriended Sable (speak to her every day) she will offer to let you use her new sewing machine.
? If my Primary Character unlocks the QR machine, can my Secondary Characters use it? No, each Character has to befriend Sable to have access.
? Can I use my 3DS to scan QR codes directly off my computer monitor? Yes
? Can I share my designs with my friends? Yes, if you have access to the QR machine at Able Sisters.
? Why am I unable to wear the design after I scan the QR code? Make sure you are not wearing a swimsuit.
? Can my Primary Character share designs with my other Characters? You can display non-QR designs at Able Sisters or if your Secondary Character has access to the QR machine, your Primary Character can create a QR code.
? How do I get my Villagers to wear my designs? If you display them at Able Sisters, there is a chance your Villagers will wear them.
? Why can?t I display designs I get from the QR machine? Because they are not your designs.
? How many QR codes does it take to make a shirt? 4, left arm, right arm, front and back.
? How big is a design? 1 piece=32x48, regular=32x32, short sleeves=16x16, long sleeves=16x32
? Can I change a short sleeve shirt into a long sleeve shirt or vice versa? No
? Can I design pants/skirts/shorts/socks/shoes? No
? Can I customize/edit clothing/accessories sold in the shops? No
? Can a boy Character wear skirts/dresses and a girl wear pants/shorts? Yes
? When my boy Character wears a coat, why are his legs bare? Coats are designed on the dress pattern. You can buy tall socks at Kicks to cover his legs.
? Do I have to wear socks/shoes? No, they are optional.
? How many designs can I store? You can have 10 active designs per Character. You can also store up to 72 non-active designs at Able Sisters.
? What happens if I erase an active design? It becomes a white inventory spot and anything you used the original design on will become white.
? Which designs have to be active? Anything you place on the ground (paths), wear or customize furniture with. Designs for community projects (Town flag, face standee, Museum signs etc.) can be stored at Able Sisters.
? Can I use other Characters to store active designs? Yes, other Characters can hold designs you wish to remain active.
? How do I place a path on the ground? Select the pencil tab and select the design you want to use, then choose ?display on ground?. To remove it, stand on it and press ?Y?. You essentially have to place one tile at a time.
? Can I place designs on the beach? Yes
? Can I place designs on the ground in the Town Shopping Area? No
? If I place a design on the ground, then store it at Able Sister?s, then save a new design in that inventory spot, will the design on the ground change? Yes, in order for the design to remain, it must be an active design on your Character.
? Can having a path cause any problems? If a balloon item, fruit or coin falls onto a ground design, it will disappear.
? Is the button for running still the same button that picks up designs? No, you press ?B? to run and ?Y? to pick something up.
? How do I get a mannequin? You can earn one from each Able sister, for a total of 3.

Spoiler: DREAM SUITE

? Is there a limit on how long I can be in a dream? No.
? Can my Secondary Characters update my Town at the Dream Suite? Yes.
? How do I find my Dream Address? Speak to Luna in the Dream Suite.
? I visited a Town Luna suggested, how do I find it?s Dream Address so I can return? During your dream read the Town?s Bulletin Board.
? Can I access a history or list of Dream Addresses previously used? No, you have to keep a manual list outside of the game.
? What exactly can I do when I visit another Town via the Dream Suite? You can do anything you would be able to do in your own Town, it just won?t be saved.
? Can I pick up items and catalog them in a dream? No.
? Can someone else visit my Town in a dream and destroy it? They can visit your Town and kill your flowers, dig up your bushes, cut down your trees etc., but it only shows in their dream, it does not affect your Town in reality.
? Can I gather fruit, flowers, shells, etc.? You can, but they will not be saved in your pockets when you ?wake up?. The only item that you can obtain permanently through a dream is a design.
? How do I get a pattern in a dream? Walk around Town until you run into Wendell. He will offer you designs from that Town.
? What if I do not want to share my own designs in dreams? Speak to Luna and select the option not to share your designs.
? How do I change the message my Character says to dream visitors? It is the comment you write when you have your Town Pass Card made at the Photo Booth.
? How many letters can the message be? 16
? Wendell will appear in dream villages and give you the Character's designs they have made.
? Why can't I visit a random dream? When I ask Luna to suggest something I just get a blank list. I have to actually pick a land or input a dream code? This is a current Nintendo problem.

Spoiler: MUSEUM/POST OFFICE

? Once I upgrade the Museum, how many rooms can I rent and how big are they? There are 4 rooms and they are 8x8.
? If my Primary Character rents a room, can my Secondary Characters use it too? No
? Celeste said each room rents for 10,000 bells, is this a one-time fee or do I have to pay it every month? One-time for each room.
? If my Secondary Character donates to the Museum, then I delete that Character, will the donated items disappear? No, they will remain in the Museum.
? Can I send letters to my friend in another Town? No, you can only send a letter to someone if you are in their Town and use their Post Office.
? If I send a present attached to a letter will I get one back? Usually, but not always.
? What do my letters need to say? This is still in the trial-and-error phase, however there has been a Japanese guide written which suggests the following: Include the Villager?s name, be nice, make sense, spell correctly, type on each line, use more than 20 Characters and use the keywords ?friend?, ?play?, ?gift?, ?present?, ?fruit?, ?thanks?.
? What is a DLC (Downloadable Content? These are items distributed by Nintendo that must be downloaded during a specific time period and some from specific locations.
? How do I download a DLC item in my game? Visit the Post Office and select the option ?Ask about a present?.

? What's the difference between selling to Nook and selling to Re-Tail? You get more money when you sell at Re-tail.
? Can I sell clothes/gems/fossils at Re-tail? Yes
? Do Villagers put furniture in the flea market spaces at Re-Tail? Yes
? How can I get the Sloppy series at Re-tail? You have to wait until one of your Villagers randomly puts those items up for sale
? When something is a premium item how much is the price increased? It is doubled.

This is actually a pretty good idea, it's not that your work has gone unnoticed or unappreciated, TxAnt. It's more so that the moderators and admin are pretty busy and don't get around to seeing all posts/threads. I'm glad that you are voicing your opinion on how to make the forum a better place (and an organized place).

If you feel that this is something that should happen I would contact one of the mods/admin about this and ask them if they think it's something that should be done. Personally I like the idea of organizing commonly asked questions that way if people post, it most likely will be questions not yet answered

An moderator may have seen it and lumped it into this thread but that doesn't mean they read your suggestion. But in all honesty, if you want a direct answer from an admin/moderator and you don't want to wait for them to reply to this thread, you have the option to send them a PM. Understand that they are busy and it may take time for them to get back with you (so don't spam them or send a PM to every one of them) and don't be disheartened if they don't want to work with this idea.

It may be more along the lines of them not thinking many members would actually look at the original post for the information before posting (because frankly, a lot don't). I don't mean to dishearten you but I've experienced members who type questions to things already answered in my own main posts such as in my contest threads. I'll have the dates clearly written out and people still ask me when the contest is over. Either way, talk to a moderator/admin, you never know what they will think about the idea until you try.
