SPOILERS FOR SEASON SIX OF GAME OF THRONES. I WON'T BE SPOILING THE BOOKS, BUT I WILL BE MENTIONING SOMETHING MINOR THAT HAPPENS IN A DANCE WITH DRAGONS.

Today, I was watching Alt Shift X on YouTube, and I came across his video about how Daenerys is NOT fireproof. He made this video before S6E4, but it's still actually true. Towards the end of A Dance with Dragons, the fifth book in the Song of Ice and Fire series, Dany is recovering from a burn. George R. R. Martin himself has said multiple times that NO Targaryens are immune to fire, and the events of the birth of Dany's dragons was a one-time, magical thing. So it kind of annoyed me when I watched S6E4 and saw Dany burn the khals and walk out of there un-burnt, because the show is basically saying that she is fireproof. I was scrolling through the comments and I came across one comment that said that Dany could have learned blood magic and she used the deaths of the khals to protect herself, and it made me think: what if she unknowingly used blood magic to protect herself from fire twice.

The reason I think she doesn't know she's doing it is because we have received no hints or indications in the books or the show of her learning blood magic. But when that commenter said that she could have used the deaths of the khals to protect herself, it reminded me of the birth of her dragons in season 1. Mirri Maz Duur is burned to death before Dany steps in to the flames. Only death can pay for life. Maybe Dany unknowingly performed blood magic that night. The author has described it as a "magical" event after all. Maybe Mirri Maz Duur's death saved Dany's life. That would make the event with the khals make much more sense.

I also really like the idea that Dany doesn't know she's performing blood magic and thinks she's completely immune to fire. I reckon a really good way for Dany to die would be for Cersei to burn her at the stake (since Cersei is becoming eerily like the Mad King), and Dany would be thinking "I'll survive this, fire cannot kill a dragon." And then Dany burns to death, leading Tyrion and Varys to connect the dots and realise that people died every time Dany survived a fire un-burnt.

I don't know if this will turn out to be the case or not, but I'm just going to hope it is, because it makes me feel a lot better about S6E4.

What do you guys think? Do you have any other theories?

Here's the Alt Shift X video I was talking about. If you're a Game of Thrones fan you should check him out, he's a great YouTuber:

I haven't finished watching it on tv yet. I prefer the books but now they're overtaking the shows I'm just waiting around for the next release
I like the idea of Dany believing she is immune to fire actually. I think in the end it will end up with her following in the footsteps of the mad King and her brother. So I can imagine her doing something crazy with fire, thinking she is invincible, and actually killing herself by accident. I don't think she is genuinely invincible, I think there's something else going on which we will find out about

Interesting theory. Personally I think that would be cool if she turned out to NOT be fire-proof, but I feel like the show creators have branched away from the books and decided she is. I would really like the twist about the blood magic, and since we don't know the specifics about how it works she may have been performing blood magic.

I was worried that Dany would become a 'Mad Queen' until Tyrion showed up. Tyrion is the most fit person to rule Westeros, but would never do it even if he was given an opportunity to do so. Dany, to her eternal credit, is the FIRST person in power to truly understand how smart Tyrion is and she values and listens to his advice. This can be seen when she goes with his plan when she returns to Mereen rather than slaughtering and burning the slavers as she intended. Her instincts seem to be 'Mad Queen', but she has enough fear of becoming one that she is willing to listen to and trust Tyrion. Naming him the Hand of the Queen was one of the best scenes in all of Game of Thrones in my opinon. There is a humbleness in Dany as she offers it and admits that it may not be right, and Tyrion (my all0time favorite character) is so moved by her actions that he nearly cries. It is beautiful. As long as Dany continues to listen to her Hand I believe she will be fine.

I do not think Cersei will kill Dany. I believe that as Dany is storming King's Landing, Cersei will go off the deep end completely and demand the wildfire under the city be set off. Whether it goes off or not I believe Jaime will kill her, and then likely himself in grief, which will fulfill the end of the prophecy Cersei received from the witch that stated she would be killed by her younger brother. She has always thought it would be Tyrion, but Jaime is technically younger than her as he was born second.

I believe Dany and Jon are the union of Ice and Fire. Dany ruling the South with her dragons and supporting Jon the King in the North. We will see how it goes! ^-^

Yeah, it does seem like the show has just decided to make her fireproof, but I really hope not. Magic in the world of Ice and Fire isn't like Harry Potter, it comes with a price, often a sacrifice. Dany just magically being fireproof really feels too easy to me and doesn't make much sense.

I agree that Dany is far better off with Tyrion by her side. I still don't want her to take the throne, but I think Tyrion will keep her grounded. I still think Tyrion would be the best person to sit the throne, but I agree that he probably won't do it. And yeah, I definitely think Jaime will kill Cersei. I actually think Cersei will eventually destroy all of King's Landing with wildfire, and Jaime will kill her afterwards. I haven't really seen any hints that Cersei will kill Dany, I just really hope she does because I reckon death by fire would be a really good death for her.

I also agree that Dany and Jon are probably the union of Ice and Fire, the only reason I'm a little hesitant on that is that it seems a bit too obvious. Still, everyone guessed R+L=J years before it was confirmed, so maybe we've guessed this one right too.

I agree it would be super lazy if she actually IS fireproof, and far more interesting if she isn't! In the books if Dany heat resistant though? She was able to hold the metal of the torches before she tipped them with no problem, and no one had died yet. I haven't read the books unfortunately, but I had a friend who was really into them and told me a lot about them and the differences.

It's too bad Tyrion would never take the throne, and even if he did he probably would be accepted. Stupid Westerosi people being mean to dwarfs! :C I don't know about Dany being burned to death. It would be poetically awesome, but for some reason I don't see it. I would LIKE for Melisandre to die that way though! I am still really REALLY angry about Shireen and now that she has brought back Jon we don't need her! Burn the witch! >:C

Yeah it is pretty obvious. Maybe it will turn out Tyrion is a Targaryian and HE will be the fire side of it! ^-^ Oh and then maybe Sansa will be the ice side! That would be quite a twist! ^-^
