Gar problem!

Ok, so last night I caught the last 3 out of 4 fish I need: oarfish, stringfish, and sea butterfly.

However, the 4th one I need is a gar.

My problems?

1. Gar don't start spawning 'till june. It's december.

2. I already caught and donated one.

I'm not kidding. On the very last day of september, I finally caught a gar. I donated it, saved, and turned my game off.

Guess what greeted me the next day?

A message from Don telling me I didn't save, along with a now-empty spot where the gar had been in my encyclopedia.

And it was october 1st, the day gar stop spawning.

I'm so frustrated. I don't want to TT (I wouldn't dream of it), but I don't want to wait until june! Is there any way to fix this, or should I just wait it out? Also, any ideas as to why it glitched and said I didn't save?

This has happened to me a couple times within the past couple weeks. When I save I always make sure it goes back to the main screen, and even then its still done it. Unfortunately I dont think there is any way to fix it. Maybe see if a friend or someone on the site has their game set to the time Gar spawn.

If someone knows what the issue is I would like to know as well. Maybe this is a common problem?

It's ridiculous. I wait until it says "save complete - see you soon!" and goes to the little loading train, but it's done it a few times in my gameplay, but not as many times as it seems you're having it. I'm very sorry to hear that! It's frustrating even if you didn't catch something. I'm always paranoid it'll happen after I tell a villager not to move and they won't ding me again!

It hasnt happened in the past week thankfully! But what a pain though! I cant imagine catching the last fish I need, and the game not saving

What Ive been doing lately is if Ive done a lot of stuff in my game and/or have been playing for awhile Ive been doing Save & Continue, and then doing Save & Quit.

That's disappointing but I would strongly advise waiting for the main menu to load up each time you save. It takes an extra second but at least you can be 100% certain that your game won't be corrupt. That's always my biggest worry, I mean I spent 500+ hours in a game (that you can't back up might I add) and if the save file was corrupt I would be so sad, I always wait the extra second.

And unfortunately there is no fix for getting the Gar. Unless you find someone who doesn't mind time traveling and getting them to go to whatever month you want to catch it again. That works because that's how I finished my museum in about 7 months.
