Ok, so on Tuesday my mom took my sisters "clothes shopping". But then they came home each with a pet hamster! So on Wednesday, my mom took me to Petsmart to get a hamster. But when I got there I saw an animal I wanted more than a hamster.
Meet Gecko (Isn't the name original?)
A bit closer, but also a bit fuzzy...
Gecko is leaopard gecko. He's a few months old, and about 4 inches long. He lives on my dresser in my bedroom.
Gecko by his water bowl.
The white stuff on the ground is a powder I put on his food... Live crickets, which also live in my room. (In a cage, obviously.) The orange is a little leftover carrot from last night.
This pic is really fuzzy, but I'm posting it anyways.
Leopard geckos grow to be between 8-12 inches, and live about 19-22 years. They are nocturnal, and are native to Pakistan/Afghanistan. They are members of the Eublepharide family of geckos, the only family with movable eyelids. (And without toe pads that let them scale vertical surfaces. They just have claws for climbing.)
