General Questions About Amiibo

So I understand the basic concept of Amiibo. But I have some questions. Like, since I have the normal 3DS, not the Amiibo one, the the XL, just the normal one that came out a couple years ago, can I still use Amiibo cards and figures on it? Or do I have to get the NFC Reader/Writer? Can I even use Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer on my 3DS? I'm afraid I'll get Happy Home Designer and I won't be able to even use it on my 3DS, let alone Amiibo cards. I need my questions answered!

If you have an old 3DS you will need the NFC Reader/Writer in order to scan amiibo. Only New 3DS and New 3DS XL models have the ability to scan amiibo directly.

Any 3DS model can play Happy Home Designer! You do not need the amiibo cards to play - villagers will randomly appear in the town on their own requesting you to remodel their houses.

The amiibo cards are used to design a specific villager's house (instead of waiting for them to appear on their own), or to design houses of 'special' characters (like Isabelle and Redd for example), who do not appear in the game without scanning their card.
