Getting Bigger Houses?

Hello there, I really really hope this isn't a dumb question XD How do people get those multi-room houses? Like when you visit the houses that have a ton of reviews most of them have an upstairs/downstairs/and multiple rooms. Do you just keep telling a specific character you want to redo their home and make it bigger over and over?


I'm really sorry if this is a stupid question I'm still trying to figure the game out and stuff :x Seeing all of these creative people is soooo intimidating too! I can barely come up with a good idea for one room let alone multiple?? But I hope I improve enough to make really pretty houses someday.

I don't think you can add upstairs to villagers houses, just from what I've seen but idk, you can customize room size and shape though, it's a lesson you buy with play coins
