I have wanted to make an art thread for a long time now~
I have also wanted to do a photography thread, which I might keep seperate from here, so it's not lumped with everything else.

I guess, a little about me via art and everything. I mainly do a lot of hand drawn artwork, and have only recently gotten myself a drawing tablet~! So, digital art will be an experience that's for sure. My laptop is also a Chromebook which hates a lot of the good art programs, but I am dedicated on learning through other aspects~!
I also am just learning using different art materials, learning to colour and shade my art as well. Something I've been slightly worried on in some artwork, because I felt I would ruin it.

I also do a few arts and crafts, and creative writing which I will add here. Or maybe add the writing to the photography thread, unsure right now~

Either way, I would love to show some stuff I have been working on, things I've completed, some that are left to be completed later on. And any advice or tips will be welcomed~!

Without further ado, here is an art piece that I have been drawing/painting etc and it's not complete yet, but will update when I do:

Thorned Girl

Art Materials Used So Far:

- Charchoal Pencils
- Willow Charchoal Sticks
- Watercolour pencils
- Soft Pastels

I used a normal pencil for the draft, then used a charchoal pencil to go over it.

My drafts for when I was working on the background. I really wanted a mosiac look to it~

She looked cold, so added some lovely clothing~
Thought she would love a rainbow top. My only nickpik is I messed up the pearl bit, where you can see the line I tried getting rid off

Added the background colours using soft pastels, smudges was the best part!

And finally:

A draft where I was decided how to do her face and design.

A draft, as I was trying to see how to draw the best eyes, and an idea of using fairy lights tangled around the horns~

This is absolutely gorgeous so far! I can’t wait to see the finished piece, as well as any other artworks you decide to share! You’re so talented!

I've been an animation course for a few Saturdays, and I wanted to share the little design practices we've been doing in class.

A more lined animation, and how a connected line can create an moving image.

A flame sorta XD
We drew a spiral/wiggily moving line from top to bottom, and drew our flame according to the next frames line.

My favourite piece, first fire, now water! And how water splashes. I was already ahead on this one, as I used the storm in Disney's Bambi as a reference for this. I really wanted to try to see how the water rains down the leaf area~

That's about it for now~! I have to create a 5-10 sec gif for the end goal, and funnily enough I am using my thorn girl for this idea~! I did have an idea of a dream catcher swaying in the wind, but I guess I can do that in my own time.

My last animation from my Animation course~

Now, before I did say I was going to use my original horned girl for my 5-10 sec gif. But honestly, the animation was really stressing me out, because it didn't go well and there was literally no time to finish it completely in the last day I had.
So, instead I scrapped it and did a different design in just one day:

Dream Catcher:

It was just a quick little design, I didn't have much time to focus on the feathers moving and swaying different in the wind. But in my own time, I will definitely do another
I wanted to make a simple background but I feel like the dream catcher is still sorta not it's own symbol, if that makes sense? I feel like it blends into the background; so that's something I'll have to think about next time!

Diamond Painting​

If you don't know what Diamond paintings are, they are literally pieces of art that you create by adding small round or sqaure gems to creste the picture yourselves. Example below:

And I LOVE doing Diamond paintings~ They can be stressful, and have to make sure each gem goes on the right number, and a lotta patience, but it's still fun to do.
Here are some I have already done so far. It may be easier to tell some images by moving futher away from said screen to see them easier.

A watercolour sunset a did for a friend's mum~

Definitely a practice,and not too fond of the tree, the brush was not working with me on this one. Loved experimented.

The box, plus there are some differences I have done slightly to make it more unique~ Different material for the cuboard thing, different material wrapped around the umbrella and painting the typewriter black.

Fun fact, I actually wrote a little message in this enevlope that's on the table. I actually don't remember what I wrote either; so mysterious!

Message already inside aha, wasn't sure if I should add that lil' sun face inside but decided against it.

Practiced what it would look like with everyone on at the same time.

One last thing, the glue took a number on my lampshade, so to make it less gluey; I tried painting the lamp with a some brass kinda paint to make sure it looked normal.

Wendell's painting​

I plan on creating Wendell's painting on a very small easel, because it would be really cute, and this painting is still an item I love and miss in animal crossing. Will update pictures each time I do a bit~

And if it's a big hit, or something a lot of others may really want. I may try and create more lil' easel's/canva's and do a lil giveaway, because everyone deserves this lil painting!
That's if physical giveaway's are allowed here, if not I will check animal crossing groups to see if allowed. :3

Updates~!!

I decided to do two at the same time, and one does have more darker blue, which I do plan on covering with more lighter blue. I definitely do like the strokes I did, to make it similar to Wendells~

Honestly, gotta say the mountains are my main trouble. Don't worry, the colours for the mountain will be changed, with more other colours. This isn't finished any time soon. Also wanted to try to do the grassy areas, so I can pin point where the bus/coach thing will be (I thought it was a train years ago - but it could be a one parment train)

Deer Project:

I found this deer figurine nearby a while ago, and as you can see there's a leg missing, and paint job is really bad; hence why it was thrown away.
But I really wanna try and bring it back to life. So far, I just need to figure out what material it is made from, so I can figure out what I could do with the leg; as well as locating the right paint for the material.

And another thing~
I really wanna make it look like one of the seasonal Sawsbuck Pokemon!
I am thinking either the spring or autumn season Sawsbuck.

A Pokemon / Cardfight Vanguard Crossover Art Piece~!

This was for a lil prompt acitvity on Tumblr :3

Setting: At a food market.
It's actually a story idea I plan to write in the future Where some characters are turned into Pokemon. (Hence talking Pokemon)
I am of course super happy with how Garchomp came out. The only thing I could do better is his arm, looks kinda thin.​

I was inspired when Pewds/Felix made several videos of himself imrpoving and learning the ways to draw and make art. So much so, that I too wanted to start one this year, and do some art to practice certain humoid things I'm not the best at, aka faces.

1st Jan, 2025

This first page, I just did my best to express the kinda things I wanna get better at. Which is mainly the faces, the eyes, hair, hands. The head size structure to the body etc

When it comes to drawing for me, an inspiration photo or looking at body/face angles are what I try and go for when drawing. What I mean is that I've never really used the circle with two crosses or drawing the body up in bits, I find that too complicated or too much on the paper to focus on actually drawing an image. So I normally draw for what I see, which has been alright in some drawings, and some not so much.
And I've been reading and watching videos that have helped me learn as I did this day to day.

2nd Jan, 2025

Gotta say with this one, I didn't give myself much time in the day to do anything, so instead I found myself desperately trying to draw a youtubter's 'masot' if that's the word for it, and realised how much I have trouble with short hair.
Also testing out the crosses on the face. ANd then some random doodles hha

3rd Jan, 2025

This one, I was mainly trying to see if I could do the face with all facial features, plus the eyes, which slightly worked. Not too sure. Then I had in mind about someone flying with an umbrella which was completely random but felt I wanted to draw it.

4th Jan, 2025

Here I am, finally practising the eyes~! And also trying to draw more then one, so as a pair. I watched a youtuber who gave me an example of how some people draw using a sort of triangle and square box before curving the lines to be more eye shaped, which I have never seen before! I don't have much trouble with the eye itself, it's the actual eye part I have trouble with, and I am happy with some of them here, and some not.
I was actually gonna grab a mirror and try and draw my eye for reference, and then I was like, wait a minute, I'ma start drawing my cats eyes. So with some of them got lines and names to them, that is my cats eyes haha. I found out they all have their own shapes; if I've drawn them properlly.
ANNNnddd, so after I was drawing them from looking at reference and not enjoying what I got, I stopped looking and did it myself from memory. The eye that is above the one that says 'Louie again' I drew from ememory and I am really happy with it~!

5th Jan, 2025

Me practising drawing a full figure, using my anime figure as reference. I might try and use more figures as reference tomorrow, before focusing on one detail of the face the next day. Doing a tiny bit better with small eyes.

6th Jan 2025

Day 6 was kinda me trying to draw my figurine again, but it mainly failing in a sense?

7th Jan 2025:

Me practising drawing hands with a video as reference.

8th Jan 2025:

Okay, my plan didn't as planned. But the reason I draw hands last time was because I wanted to draw a simple hand holding a branch of blossoms. Will try this again though!

9th Jan 2025:

Back to faces, eyes and a lil' bit of a finger or two? I'll plan on watching and readin more about how to do faces and draw from that another time. They say the more you do it, the better your reflexes will remember what to do.

10th Jan 2025:

Okkkayy, that day was a struggle because of the power cut. And it made me wanna try and draw someone huddlng near a fire or holding candles. Plan to do this again next time~

11th Jan 2025:

From top to bottom:
I actually drew some eyes that were Miwa's omg despite the fact they werent as levelled as reference, I am super proud I drew him ok.
Lil animal crossing figure - and animal crossing eyes because I wanna learn how to draw in that style.
The eyes with fangs were my practice of drawing an oc's facial expression which didnt go as well here.
The last set of eyes, I was trying to see what eyes would look good for my horned girl since she needs a good pair, but unsure abour that one.

12th Jan 2025:

pppffffffff WHY DID I DRAW MIWA TAISHI OF ALL PEOPLE
AND IT LOOKS OKAY TO ME? (his fingers are bigger cause of wearing gloves that I didnt add detail to.) I KNOW I LOVE HIM BUT-
Here's the thing about me, I NEVER felt comfortable drawing Miwa, in fear of drawing him badly. Definitely since his hair is like - well, the below sketches are me trying to see how to draw his messy head. It;s like a lion mane. So many parts to remember.
Sure, some bits need fixing. but - it looks like him help

13th Jan 2025:

Since it was my sister's birthday, I gave her the choice of what I should draw, and she wanted Chuckie's bride. Which I am almost tempted to draw again once I get a bit better and add shading and details.

I made @roseflower mythical creature from the Christmas Event, Sneaky Santa Snake~!!

I'm kinda upset the red blended too much into the green, causing a brown look and the gold specks didn't help it, but other than that, I love it~

Fun fact, I have had this for ages. My good friend got me this for one of my birthdays but haven't planned to make it till now~

I am not too excited for the sushi making. >.<

Finally getting around to making the drink machine!

The hardest part was making the very tiny drinks for the drink machine, so fiddily!
I'm glad it's over!

It's coming along quite well!
Before I add more walls, I need to make the sushi, add extras to the table areas to attach to the walls etc.
