My name is Amanda, but you can call me Manda (or Miss Panda, if you want to be formal). I'm a bit on the older side (let's just say, I'm passed the 'going to school' age, lol), I have an American Eskimo dog named Dante, I greatly enjoy drawing/art, writing, anime/manga, taking long walks in nice weather, Let's Playing, and video gaming in general.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is my first delve into the AC series, but I'm astonished that it took me this long to try it! I've been enjoying the game immensely over the past year. Another love of mine is Harvest Moon, and in a lot of ways, this sort of "Slice of Life" game is similar. I love relaxing games like AC--they're simply fun and mellow to play. Plus, it's filled with tons of cute characters and customizables! What more could you ask for, right?

I look forward to getting involved here. Now that I'm a little passed the stage of "ooo-ing" and "awe-ing" at the game's features and how new the AC world was to me, I'm working hard to get my town on a roll, get dreamies, etc. I did make the mistake of not playing the game for about 6 months around this time last year, which was a colossal mistake when my town was on night owl ordinance (and I lost Chrissy, Papi, and Gala during that time, all of whom I liked a lot). However, I'm learning all that I can and hopefully I'll be able to create something inspiring out of my town, as I've been itching to attempt AC fanart sooner or later.

It's a pleasure to meet you all and join the fun! I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope to make some friends here!

I used to have an Eskie. Her name was Josie and I miss her so much. ; n; The dogsitter accidentally let her loose and she got hi by a car.

Anyway, sorry for the sob story. x-x

Welcome to tbt! Looking forward to seeing you around.

Hi.

Do you do playthroughs on YouTube, or do you just watch others who do? If the latter, who are your favorite playthrough/'let's play' guys?

Oh my gosh, I'm really sorry to hear that. It's always painful to lose a pet---and a friend. I lost my other two dogs prior to this, many years ago. One died of old age (my father had her put to sleep to put her out of her misery), and the other we had for around 4 years (from 4-week old puppy stage) until we gave away to a man who adored her as much as we had. But she was left in his sister's care when he went on vacation and she had her put down behind his back for reasons we don't know. It still makes me angry to this day.

But thank you for the welcome! And I hope you've found/find a pet that can fill that void. It's always terrible to lose a loved one.

Hello. : )

Yes, I do playthroughs with commentary on YouTube and occasionally stream on Twitch, but I also really enjoy watching Let's Plays! Among my favorites are FarFromSubtle/VideoGamesAwesome, OctaneBlue, GameGrumps, and NintendoCapriSun. The MarioPartyTV crew is also great for laughs. I love their personalities.

Thank you for sharing. I have been on the lookout for more people to follow on YouTube. So far I have only been regularly watching ChronoGear and Vash12349 for playthroughs, but have been trying more channels since talking to a friend a few days back who is a video game developer and also loves watching playthroughs.

By the way, I bet I am missing an obvious link or reference, but where might I find your playthroughs on YouTube?

There's an endless amount of LPers out there, that's for sure! What I find is the ticket, is looking up games you really love and testing the waters with different LPers. That's how I found a good deal of the ones that I enjoy. (Though sometimes you can just stumble upon them, too. Haha.)

Oh, no, there wasn't any link. But I'll put one here for you: Shiirahime's Channel. There's not too much there (I was previously an AMV-maker), but I hope to add Child of Light and a redo of EarthBound (since my last LP file got corrupted) in the future. As much as I'd LOVE to do ACNL, I don't have the capabilities to record 3DS, unfortunately.

Welcome to the forums, Miss Panda! uvu

Thank you, kindly! : )

Happy to see you here! <3

Yay~! I'm glad you're here, too. :3

Child of Light and Earthbound certainly are interesting choices for playthrough. I have not completed the game, but one of the reasons I am interested in picking it up again is finding the possibilities for upgrade with all those shards you pick up throughout the game. And Earthbound strikes me as a cult classic that also has attracted a lot of philosophical debate as to its undertones/subtexts and the unusual aspects of it mechanics wise as a game. In any case, glad to see someone picking up an old SNES classic besides Super Mario RPG, heh.

Thanks for the link!

My pleasure. : )

EarthBound is my childhood, basically. Before it even became a cult classic, it was one of those games I fell in love with as a kid and still adore to this day. The added depth and all the 90's references and pop culture just added to my love of the game. So naturally, it was my number one choice for a first LP. I really enjoyed the sequel Mother 3, which I LPed, as well. SNES has some of my favorite all-time games, and it's probably my favorites system of all time. I did enjoy Super Mario RPG for SNES, but also Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Evermore, Breath of Fire II, and more. I have a lot of history with that system. (That and N64, but SNES moreso.)

Child of Light is still something I need to finish. I've been so busy these days with so many things that I just haven't had the time to finish it yet. But I adore the rhyming scheme and fairytale atmosphere to it. I'm sure I would enjoy LPing it a lot, hence why it's on my list. I currently upload mostly Mario Kart 8 and Harvest Moon: Animal Parade. They're on hiatus until October, though, as September is a very busy month. Down the road, I'd love to try a blind LP of Wind Waker HD, too, but considering how bad I am at Zelda games, that could be quite the trainwreck. Hahaha.

Never knew the title of the Earthbound sequel; now I will have to check our your LP of that game.

I grew up on SNES, too, but never got Earthbound. Rather, the games I had were Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario World, Killer Instinct, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Relatedly, it makes me super-sad that I did not get other SNES titles, as there was a small store inside a grocery store which had every wall lined with SNES games. If I could go back in time, I would buy every title for my still working SNES and have a retro gaming marathon when I got the chance.

And just you naming those titles is getting me all nostalgic.

That sounds risky: might need a lot of editing even with the speedier sail you can get in the HD version. But that game is a lot of fun, too. —Wait, blind? You have not played it yet? Oh, my God!

Super Mario World is a little nostalgia trip for me, too. Ahaha, I was so awful at that game. (Not quite as bad as I was at Super Mario Bros. 3 for the NES, though.) I definitely played A Link to the Past, as well (and the old NES and gameboy versions of Zelda). A retro gaming marathon sounds amazing, though. I'm sort of reliving my childhood through LPing them, so I guess I can be content with that.

EarthBound's original title in Japan was "Mother 2". It's actually the second in the series. Mother was for NES---that one I've never played. It never made its way outside of Japan. And Mother 3 is the next one in the series. I'd have a hard time choosing a favorite between 2 and 3, to be honest. But 3 pulled at my heartstrings a lot more and it's my first ever completed LP (EarthBound would have been, if my file on the emulator didn't get corrupted 2/3 to 3/4 of the way through the game). Mother 4 is actually coming out this winter - but it's a fangame. I'm excited about playing it, though. They've been doing a fantastic job. My only hope is that they don't get a C&D before it's finished.

As for Wind Waker... well, I never had a GameCube, so I missed out on that one, as well Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, and others. It might be a painful blind LP (or I should say 'semi-blind', since I have watched bits of another LP of it), considering I'm not terribly good at Zelda games. If I were better at them, I'd want to do Skyward Sword in a heartbeat.
