Why is it so difficult to get blue roses from scratch? lol Is there a better way of getting them? I don't have access to fertilizer yet...what has worked best for you if you have grown them from scratch?
I'm still trying to breed my own (haven't been doing it long, but I've been using fertilizer and watering with the gold watering can every day several times a day). It just takes forever :T but oh well, it'll be all the more satisfying when one finally does grow.
Welcome to my world. I've been trying to get blue roses for months. I'm using fertilizer, gold can, gold shovel, and jacobs ladders, and still nothing.
I grew them from scratch and all I can say is: just lots and lots of patience. It'll be really satisfying once you get a breeding pair, and as someone said above, they breed very easily after the initial two.
Are you growing them on the beach? I had more success there, as I kept getting confused about which of my red roses were hybrids or not.
Yeah, I caved in and bought a breeding pair. >< I recall trying to grow a pair of flowers myself, but initially gave up after a week or two. u-u
They breed like crazy once you have two, though! ^^
I started the game on release week and didn't start trying until late September. By that time I had the golden water can and fertilizer. It took about 6 weeks for the first one to show up. 11 or more days for the 2nd one to show up. I picked it up and should have left it where I found it. After that they grew like weeds. They did slow down so I moved three blue roses to a different section of the beach. Water both and found new blue roses in both areas. So I took 2 sets of 3 blue roses and planted them in different spots. Each day I found one or more in each blue rose area. I have enough for my 3 towns.
It helps to add beautiful and just water the Maybe Red Hybrid Roses.
I used the Forbidden Blue Rose Youtube set up for the purple and orange roses.
I also picked two spots where hybrids grew on a lot. Main town they liked the beach.
Note the villagers can go to your beach and plant flowers. Before you end for the night go check for any flowers planted in the empty spots. If a villager is down there they might plant one before you save. That why I call them Maybe Red Hybrid Roses.
You don't know if the game planted hybrid or a regular red rose in the empty spot.
Hmm, I dunno if it's me but I find it easier to grow hybrid red* roses during the winter time? Using either blue or purple roses and then maybe switching to other flowers during the meantime while winter slowly disappears and saving the red* roses for spring and summer to go? I don't even know if the season have a major effect or not since winter you can grow flowers and have them be lively and blooming .. Good luck! :3
