So I'm very interested in trading amiibo cards with others on this forum much like the Villager Trading Plaza however unfortunately we are not dealing with igbs or tbts but with actual money :) although a lot of people on this forum are kind trustworthy people it still might be a bit unsafe to be giving out security details such as addresses (mailing) or money related information :)

Therefore this thread is to discuss safe methods of trading cards with others on this forum :) hopefully eventually we'll all be able to work something out because achieving dreamies is always a beautiful thing :)

Current ideas
-eBay?

Also should we find a method, which cards are you looking for?

I'm looking for elephant cards. And K.K., but I doubt anyone will give him up.

ebay is probably a good idea, but what if someone else buys the card you're intending to trade? Or is there a way to limit who can view a product? I'm not sure...

Technically speaking, if both users are just trading, all that needs to be shared would be addresses which would be done over PM? I assume both people would pay for each other's shipping costs?

For trades I think it would just come down to who would be sending first? Cause people can always say they sent it, but didn't. And since they're just cards, most people would just mail it in a regular envelope.

You could always put cards in a bubble mailer (that way you get free tracking too) and it'll only be around $2-3 at most. It's kind of risky, but meeeh.

When I have mailed items to members in the past I always send them a picture of it stamped, addressed and ready to go at my local post office ... Mind you, I live in a small town and this is no problem

I would definitely be interested in trading cards!! I don't have any friends irl who play so I don't have anyone to trade with lmao. But I guess trading on here would kind of just come down to how long the person has been around the forum / wifi rating etc. and going with your gut feeling if someone doesn't seem 100% trustworthy to trade with.

But on that note, I think trading cards on here would be super fun!! And I don't really have a problem giving my address to people through PM if I'm for sure gonna trade with them.

There is no safe way around it, you can't trade cards without giving your address. Even on ebay, you have to give your address in order to recieve your item. And I don't think ebay serves as a trading post for btb...

I think this is why trading should be done over pm, at your own full risk. Not everyone is from the same country, so postage can be pretty pricey for some. And if you don't pay to track it, you're going to have a lot of people who will be skeptical at first about if they actually sent it or not.

I totally get not having friends who play to trade with irl (I know I dont) but since a lot of people will be looking for/wanting cards on here, I personally think it will never be 100%safe as you'll always have that one person who ruins it for everyone else :/

On another forum I'm on, there's a sort of reputation tracker on the first post of a trading thread. Once a user successfully receives a card from another user, they post said notifications in the thread, and that user gets a +1 to their reputation.

Any kind of trading/purchases are risky, but if someone's being a liar and not sending anything, they'll at least be easy to track. Of course, any kind of address/payment information should be kept strictly to PMs.

I have a few cards I'd like to trade off myself so I would be interested in trading here as well, with people who seem genuinely interested. Working on a list of cards I'm missing at the moment.

I just opened 20 packs on my twitch stream. Ended up only missing 27/100 cards in set 1. Pretty nice

Great idea. I only got the Amiibo card that came with my AC:HHD but I don't have the new 3Ds or Reader yet ~
However, since I got the Timmy card I MUST obtain the Tommy one as well. They have the same names as my two brothers, who are identical twins. :' D

To add to the topic of how to trade/buy/sell cards I have a suggestion a little bit outside of the realm of TBTF. I am a huge fan of attending anime and video game conventions, I think that a convention atmosphere may be a good solution to the Amiibo card trading frenzy! Locally hosted events are (in my experience), extremely affordable. To name a few I've attended (and received mad streetpasses):
NebrasKon, Anime DeMoii, AnimeDetour, NakaKon, and AnimeIowa. Besides the added bonus of witnessing AC Cosplayers, ( ^/////^'' ) cons are generally open events and a great place to meet up with internet acquaintances without giving any of your personal information out unsafely or unnecessarily. Additionally, people are much less likely to have the balls to rip you off in public. Conventions are also often attended to by faithful staff to oversee any shadiness. 8^)

I hope this helps some of you!!

I live in Australia too (in Melbourne though)!

I've joined several hobby groups in the past and meeting up in public places/CBD can be considered an option for trading without revealing personal information.

So maybe that, or sometimes game/card stores hold events and have plenty of seating arrangements.
My local place tends to be very lax and they don't really care if we just sit around doing homework or whatever if there isn't a tournament going on.

Always trade in front of somewhere crowded or with someone accompanying you as a precaution.

It's a lot easier to mail to Melbourne maybe we can trade? How many wifi ratings do you have? :) how many packs are you buying? I'm buying 10 so I'll have 30 cards :)

Only 2, but they're two positives!

I'm not sure whether I'd be collecting the cards at the moment, but I'll probably start of with 3 packs for now.
Just spending the $15 that I'll save for not preordering at EB Games, lol.

I'd love to do some card trading, since I live in the UK and the cards are darn expensive! But I'd only want to trade with others in the UK tbh, since shipping is a lot of money...

Since this seems to be a popular thing people want to do, maybe if you want to trade cards start including your country in your signature?

Or something like, trading from {your country} trading to {the countries you are okay with the postage for} just an idea ><

Well I don't have it yet, cause I'm English. But when I do I will happily trade any of my cards for Kyle, Walker or Chief.
