Hey guys. I decided this would be the best site to ask this question, because I'm sure most of you are in the same boat I'm in. Animal Crossing is one of my all time favorite games, and I put probably 200+ hours into it. When Wild World came along, I was extremely excited for the release. However, it didn't captivate me quite like the GC version did. And a large part of that is probably because it felt like I was doing the exact same thing.

And now here we are, 3 years after Wild World (has it really been that long? Wow) and City Folk is out. I want to buy it, but I worry that I'll tire of it in a couple weeks because of how lazy Nintendo was when developing it. I've read that 25% of the items are new, but apart from that everything is almost identical to the past iterations.

All of the videos I watch though give me that same feeling I had when playing the Cube version... which is why I wonder if this will be an experience more akin to that game as opposed to Wild World. Plus, it has been a very long time since I seriously played either of the past two games.

Basically, for those of you here who were like me and have already played both previous versions obsessively, is there enough in City Folk to keep you entertained? Is it too early to tell how long it will last for you? Are you having more fun with this one than either the GC or DS version?

Answers would be very helpful, as I'll probably base my purchasing decision off of what I read here. Thanks everyone!

Yeah I agree Megaman, I LOVED the GC version and I dont think Nintendo will ever be able to top it off but CF comes very close. Sure you get bored of the city pretty quickly but I think the game will captivate you for a while. Of course it might be too early to tell but so far, its pretty good.

I reccomend you get it, there are a lot of new holidays and if you play online you probably won't get bored of it for a while.

Online pretty much seals the deal for this game...for me that is. I wouldn't have bought this game if the online wasn't there.

while it might resemble WW a little too much, I is probably better than the past two combined. Or maybe it IS the past two combined!

I was in the same boat as you when ACCF was first coming out. I figured "I pretty much just played this game in Wild World." But I bought it anyway becauseI was such a hardcore fan as well, and I am loving every minute of it.

Alright, I'm convinced. Getting ready to leave for Walmart to pick it up now. Unforunately the online isn't that big of a selling point for me since none of my friends have it, but the single player experience should be good. Thanks everyone!

Whoops, looks like I'm too late. I wouldn't recommend it, personally, if you're tired of the Animal Crossing formula. City Folk adds nothing to the existing formula... it felt stale in Wild World, and City Folk is even worse in that regard.

Yeah but that really depends if you're tired of the Animal Crossing formula.

I wondered the same thing, but after seeing a few vids, it looks amazing, and im getting it this christmas, hopefully.

Umm, duh...? I don't think he'd be asking this question if he wasn't tired of the formula.

Bulerias! Didn't know you had the game.

I'm actually loving it so far. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that it's been so long since I played Wild World. I'm not sure how long my enjoyment of it will last... I highly doubt it will be the 200 hours of the first game. But so far, it's a lot of fun. Just paid off my first house debt, whoo.

Yes, it's totally ridiculous how lazy Nintendo got with this game. And I very much hope the next game is something extremely different (make it take place in space!) But from what I've played so far, even though it is almost identical, it still is charming enough to make the repitition fun.

I think its worth it; it's fresh, much ahead the GC version IMO, but this is my first time to truly experience AC cleanly, hacking, and not grasping the concept in GC days never really let me in.
bdubs, awesome sig XD
